Aruba By Day 2019

Our days were glorious without children. We slept in every day. And even if we didn't sleep in (because I don't usually sleep that late) it was still nice to wake up on our own, uninterrupted & be lazy. We got to work out together every day, which again, never happens. We usually take turns with the girls. And then we headed to a late brunch every day. One morning we discovered this dutch pancake place that was awesome:

They literally only serve pancakes & they were huge! We split 2 - 1 savory & 1 sweet. This was Bryan's half above. Literally, that is only half. It was bigger than the plate!

Eventually we would head out to the beach. They had these cute little palapas & we would grab one every day & veg out with our friends. Lots of visiting, reading, eating & drinking!

We haven't been to a good beach in a while. Our last few trips had seaweed so it was great to be at a clean beach with white sand & clear water:

Our only complaint is the wind. It is a very windy island so sometimes the sand would blow a little too much & we would head up to the pool:

They guys met quite a bit to work, usually in the mornings they would meet in the lobby but we couldn't help but laugh because one of their longest & productive meetings happened in the pool:

If only all of our work meetings could happen by the pool with a drink in your hand :)

One morning we decided to venture off the resort so theyhotel let us borrow a couple of mountain bikes & we rode 5 miles to the light house:

It was a good workout & it felt great to see some of the island again. We took a break along the way to check out the beach & watch the kite surfers:

And for those who don't know, Aruba is an ugly island. Literally it is a desert in the middle of the ocean. Beautiful beaches but ugly interior. On our way through the desert, we finally saw the light house:

Totally worth the views when we finally got to the top:

In one direction we could see the golf course:

Bryan did venture out & play a round one day but I don't have any pictures to document it. On the other side is where Palm Beach is, which is where the main tourist attractions are & hotels:

Eventually we headed back to our resort because we were hot, tired & hungry so we went straight to the pier by our hotel for lunch at :

This ended up being one of our favorite places from the entire trip! We came here several times, but at this moment, a cold smoothie never tasted so good:

The only other excursion was a fishing trip. Justin wanted to go deep sea fishing & Bryan hasn't really been before (except for Alaska & that was over 10 years ago) so they ventured out early one morning. It was a slow start & Bryan may have taken a nap on the boat:

but eventually they caught some fish, 3 to be exact:

They caught mahi mahi, king mackerel & wahoo:

They even took their fish to a local restaurant & cooked them for our dinner that night! You'll see that next when I post about our island life at night :)
