State Fair 2018

Every year we look forward to going to the fair with the girls & this year we had our doubts. The fair only runs for a month & unfortunately, it rained for most of the month. Bryan & I had picked a date way before the fair even started to take the girls & I don't know how we lucked out, but it happened to be the one beautiful day. It wasn't too hot, wasn't too cold & not an ounce of rain! We picked the girls up from school last Thursday afternoon so it was late in the week & headed downtown for a late night. As soon as we got there, we headed straight to Fletcher's for corn dogs:

Next stop, the girls' favorite:

In the past, they had the children's barnyard & little hands on the farm exhibit separate, but this year they combined them inside one barn & it was better than ever. First we checked out the animals:

Then they got to work on the farm shucking corn, gathering eggs, planting seeds, riding tractors & milking cows:

Next stop, the birthing barn where we saw lots of baby animals who were born while at the fair:

We walked around to see Big Tex:

And we may have gotten a lot of food along the way. Bryan got Fried Siracha Balls, I got Fried Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Sophie wanted Fried Macaroni & Cheese & Sadie wanted Fried Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough:

We had a good time sampling everyone's! Somehow the girls talked us into playing a few games:

Who knew they had games where everyone wins now?! Lucky us for getting to go home with new prizes:

On our last game of the night, Bryan helped Sadie & they won! Not only did she win, but she won big!

She was so excited & she carried around that bear all night long :)

Finally we hit the midway & let the girls pick a few rides:

Sadie really wanted to ride the Crazy Mouse last year but she wasn't tall enough so she was so excited to ride it this year! Somehow, she talked me into riding it. It was basically a small roller coaster but you spin the whole time you are on it. I could not stop laughing & Sadie could not stop screaming!

They didn't have the patience to wait in line for the ferris wheel but it never gets old looking at it:

It was a perfect evening but we finally headed back to the car around 9:30 since Sadie had school on Friday morning. It didn't take the girls long to nod off:

Such a fun tradition we enjoy doing every year! Maybe next year we can get Sophie on the Crazy Mouse or all of us on the ferris wheel.
