Shooting Stars Practice - Winter 2017

Now that Sadie has started kindergarten, she is finally getting old enough to try other sports. Soccer was really the first sport she could do at the age of 3 but now that she is 5 & in kinder, she is old enough for basketball. We are a busy family & we let her do quite a bit, but our 1 rule right now is 1 sport at a time. So we did fall soccer & now she is trying winter basketball. I recruited most of her team & Bryan is coaching. In fact, I asked her soccer team first & 4 of them wanted to play & then we asked friends from school. We met up this week for their first team meeting & practice. Normally, it will be indoor, but since the weather was so nice this week, we had outdoor practice instead. Sadie's soccer coach actually lives on a cul de sac so they rolled the basketball goal from the back to the front & the girls had plenty of room to run around & play:

I was surprised to see all 9 girls show up for practice since we scheduled it at the last minute but they had so much fun. I was really curious to see how they would do but they honestly surprised me! Bryan had them practice running & they ran a lot of drills:

It was quite comical watching them shoot baskets. They will play on a 8 foot goal & that's kind of high for them! Most of them could barely get the ball up that high. Sadie actually made a basket & somehow I caught it on my phone:

The little ones ran around & played also. Sophie just loves hanging with the boys:

Games start December 1 so we have a chance to get a few more practices in before then. Can't wait to see how they do & if they like it, especially since half of them already play soccer together. It's always more fun when you get to play with your friends:
