Relay for Life 2017

Hard to imagine another year has passed since we last celebrated at Relay for Life. This time last year I was super stressed because I was the event lead for the Frisco community. Let's just say it was very time consuming & I didn't have much of a committee, so this year I stepped down to let someone else take it over. I still tried to stay involved with some of the planning, but not to the extent as last year. This year, I was more excited to be the team captain:

We didn't have as many family members this year but we had a lot of friends come out to support us. Our team had a fundraiser at a local bakery to sale purple ribbon cookies so the girls & I stopped by the bakery to buy the remaining cookies to share with friends that night:

Thank you Celebrity Café & Bakery! The cookies were delicious! As soon as we got there, the kids started running around & playing while we hit up the snack shack for dinner:

After the opening ceremony, they had the survivor lap:

Bryan might have had the biggest & the loudest cheering section there:

Next lap was the caregiver lap where I got to join him:

The rest of the night we took turns on the track:

while the kids played in the kids zone at the bounce houses & getting their faces painted:

Later that night, they got to have a snow ball fight with the left over shaved ice from Bahama Bucks:

The girls were asked to be hush angels for the luminaria ceremony along with 2 other girls & they all looked precious:

Sophie got a little nervous on the stage in front of everyone, but for the most part she did great for her first time! The luminaria ceremony is always emotional but we love seeing the bags lit up at night:

Technically I am considered a survivor since I had 3 cancerous skin spots removed in the past year, but mine feels trivial compared to what others have endured. We always have a great time at such a family friendly event but are even more honored to celebrate & remember those who have faced this battle. Thank you to everyone who has supported us through the year & especially those who joined us at the track:

I hope our family is celebrating a cancer free year next time!
