State Fair 2016

Bryan & I have been taking the girls to the State Fair since they have been born & we love it as much as they do! In fact, we usually go to the fair for the UT-OU football game, but Sadie's soccer schedule has thrown us off course. So, we have to make up for it when we take them!

The fair ended last weekend, so we picked them up from school last Thursday & headed down there. Apparently they were tired from school because they both crashed before we got there:

As soon as we got there, we headed straight to Fletcher's Corn Dogs:

Always one of our favorites & a Dodson tradition! As soon as we got there, Sadie was begging to go on some rides, so we obliged. But this year was the first time Sophie was old enough to go with her:

They rode a few together & then they rode a few separately:

I was just excited they were both tall enough to finally to do some stuff:

We took a break from the rides & found the Backyard Circus:

Sophie wasn't old enough, but Sadie got to participate. She got to be a butterfly ballerina:

And then we headed to the girls' favorite parts. First:

where they got to walk through the life cycle of a farmer. They planted seeds, watered plants, fed the chicken, rode the tractors & much more:

Next stop, the pig races which was our first time, but I didn't get any pictures. Then we stopped by:

where the girls both got their own cup of feed. Sophie was hilarious - she would pull out one little piece at a time & drop it in the pen for each animal:

And my favorite part of the night was trying all of the fun fair food. Besides corn dogs, we had twisted tators, fried barbecue balls, fried jello, fried sriricha balls & who knows what else. I can't remember it all! I know for sure Bryan had fried chocolate covered strawberries with the girls:

while I shared my absolute favorite with them: fried chocolate chip cookie dough:

Sorry Bryan, they liked mine the best! By the way, please excuse my youngest back there - Sadie never put her fingers in her nose but Sophie does it quite often :(

We thought we would surprise the girls & ride the carousel wheel:

But the line was forever long :( We were hoping it wouldn't be crowded but unfortunately it was since it was the last weekend of the fair. But a cool front had blown in the night before so we had great weather. Since we had a few tickets left, we let the girls ride a final ride & they decided on the Dragon Wagon:

I took a picture & wanted to document it because this is the first official roller coaster Sophie has ever ridden. Obviously it isn't huge, but she was so excited to ride it by herself with Sadie, until the ride started. I could tell she was a little scared on the ride, but she never cried. Until she got off! She ran to me as fast as she could crying & she told me that it was scary. Poor girl! So we let her end the night on a happier note:

We had such a great night together & I look forward to continuing this tradition as the girls get older:
