For those who haven't heard, last night was the ribbon cutting & grand opening of The Star in Frisco:
It will officially be the corporate headquarters for the Dallas Cowboys & where they will have training camp. But it will also be used as a high school stadium for FISD. It was actually a joint partnership with the City of Frisco, Frisco ISD & the Dallas Cowboys. Bryan has been involved since the beginning since he is a school board member, so he knew about it before it was even announced to the public. We have been hearing about it & watching it be built for the past couple of years so we were thrilled to be invited to the ribbon cutting & grand opening party last night:
As soon as we got there, we had to take pictures! This area in front of the stadium is called Tostito's Plaza & will eventually be full of restaurants & bars with a small turf football field in the middle. They set up a huge air conditioned tent on the field for the ribbon cutting since it was outside in the middle of the afternoon. It was definitely a packed tent with all of the media coverage! Speakers included The City of Frisco's Mayor Maso:
Dr. Jeremy Lyon, Superintendent of Frisco Independent School District:
and Mr. Jerry Jones on behalf of the Dallas Cowboys organization & his family:
They even had all of the team captains from our 8 high schools in their new Nike sponsored uniforms present the ribbon to be cut:
Shortly afterwards, the tent opened up & the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders led the celebration:
As we walked the field in to the stadium, cheerleaders from all 8 high schools lined the walk way. Of course we had to stop & take a picture with the Wakeland Wolverine Cheerleaders since that will be where our daughters go & where most of our babysitters currently go:
And we couldn't help but take a few more pictures to celebrate the opening:
Once inside we got to watch the Dallas Cowboys as they had their first team practice in the new facility:
Then we got to tour the stadium. The locker rooms were closed since the athletes were in the building, but here is where they are:
Their weight room is across from this & it is the biggest, nicest, weight room I have ever seen:
You can't see in the picture, but on the other side of the weight room is their outdoor practice field. They also had a wall with all of their super bowl honors:
And of course lots of pictures & memorabilia from current & past football players:
Bryan was born & raised in the Dallas area so he has been a Dallas Cowboys fan his entire life. His favorite part of the tour might have been the screening room:
It is by far the largest media room I have ever seen! Bryan & Shona had to sit down & try it out :)
Finally we headed to the training table which is basically the restaurant where the Dallas Cowboys get to eat:
They had several different food stations set up & the food was fantastic! Drinks were flowing, dessert was delicious & they had a live band for entertainment. Not many were dancing until Bryan got out there & got the party started:
I think he was celebrating because he just got to meet the main man himself:
We had such a fun night & we are grateful that we got to be a part of the celebration. But honestly, Bryan & all of the other school board members work tirelessly volunteering their time to keep FISD one of the best school districts in the state, if not the nation, so they all deserve the recognition. We can't wait to celebrate this weekend with the opening games for our local schools!
