The Nursery Reveal....

I realize I haven't posted much about this pregnancy, but I have been doing a lot behind the scenes! I really started working on the nursery when I hit my third trimester & of course it always takes longer for things to get done since I outsource most of it. Ordering furniture, having the room painted, window treatments done, custom crib bedding, etc. Don't get me wrong - I did a lot myself, but it mostly included shopping, researching & planning!

At last, I can finally reveal pictures of her room since it has finally came together - just in the nick of time! Sadie's room is pink, lime green, black & white with 2 black & crystals chandeliers & a lot of zebra print, so I wanted to do something completely different this time around & I think we accomplished it! Last time Bryan really wanted to incorporate purple into her room & since we didn't, I decided to make it the primary color this time. And since we did some animal print in Sadie's room, I decided to go in a different direction this time & we used more geometric prints instead. Overall it all came together & I am in love! Here is the basic snapshot of what it looks like when you walk in:

I will warn you this will be a long blog because I took a lot of pictures & I like to document everything for my records :) I will start with the lights - they are my favorite! One of my favorite things about Sadie's room is the chandeliers - she has two of them & they frame her crib. They are also on a dimmer switch & I love being able to dim the lights in her room at night, so I wanted to do something similar with a lighting package on a dimmer switch, but not with chandeliers. I have always liked those tissue paper balls, but never really saw the objective of them except for decoration. I think they are great for parties, but I couldn't really see them in a bedroom long term but I was hoping to find something similar to them in a lighting package. Fast forward to the summer when I am on my girl's weekend in Ruidoso & I see these lights hanging in a boutique downtown. I made my friends stop & let me go in to talk to the manager because I loved them so much! Long story short, but I eventually found them on the Internet, ordered a couple of different sizes (they are incredibly cheap, by the way!) had problems with the delivery (instead of being delivered in 3 days it took almost 3 weeks) & then we couldn't figure out how to put them together. This is where I have to throw a big shout out to my friend Emily who put them together in no time (obviously her brain works differently than mine!) & to my electrician who brought them to life. They are my favorite part of the room even if pictures don't do it justice!

This is the baby furniture we ordered:

I know, it's very similar to Sadie's. It's actually a different manufacturer, but it looks the same. That open spot on the dresser is where the changing pad will go, but Sadie is still using it for the time being.

Here is a close up of the crib with the custom baby bedding we designed:

As with Sadie's room, we designed the bedding first & picked the colors & the patterns & then we designed the whole room around it. My Mom gave us the money for the bedding & matching sheets, changing pad covers, blanket & pillow. In case you are curious who made it all, I ordered it all from Etsy & they did an amazing job.

We also created a seating area in the corner. We were going to move Sadie's chair in here, but she has really learned to love her chair & we read every night before bed, so we were considering buying a new one. But when my grandmother passed away in October, I found this white wicker rocking chair in her room & thought it would work perfectly! We just painted it metallic silver & it looks awesome! And we can remember her every time we use it:

The ottoman was a bargain buy I found at a random discount store around town :)

The nightstand goes with her bedroom set & the lamp I found at the same store as the ottoman, but it had a plain grey shade so I tried to jazz it up a little:

The window treatment just got hung yesterday & it is beautiful! My friend did a good job incorporating it into the room:

It's hard to tell from the picture, but it has pink piping & crystal embellishments.

Finally, we hired the same painter who did Sadie's room. She does amazing work & we couldn't be happier with the final product. Sadie has a mural on one wall that has whimsical flowers & she has wooden leaves that we attach every six months as a growth chart. I wanted something similar this time, but we decided to go with a tree instead:

I found the inspiration from a piece of art at Hobby Lobby. It had a tree & the falling leaves were in the shapes of hearts. I have loved hearts since I was a little girl, so I knew this was the right direction! I don't know if you can tell from the picture, but there are heart leaves painted on here & she is providing us with wooden hearts to attach as she grows.

As with Sadie's room, we also had to have a Longhorn painted on the wall - per Bryan's request!

She also painted the arch that leads from the bedroom to the bathroom. I don't know if you can see the print, but it is the same as the longhorn:

The bathroom is kind of empty, but she does have a new picture frame (which I fell in love with at the store & paid way too much for it.....) & a bow holder of course!

I had a hard time finding art to fit in here, but I found these trivets that helped bring in some more color:

They actually only came in pink, green & turquoise, so I painted the turquoise one purple from left over paint from the bedroom.

And finally, we have her closet:

In case I haven't mentioned it before, this girl is set & does not need any additional clothing! She has all of Sadie's & Zoe's hand me downs :) I have already washed everything that is size newborn & 0-3 months - that is what is hanging for her winter wardrobe. You can see we also scored a lot of diapers & wipes at our baby shower which will come in handy. And I have everything else washed, ironed & packed away ready for her to grow into:

I love it when people laugh & say that their closets won't stay this way, because those people obviously don't know me very well. In case you don't know, every closet in my house looks like this :)

For those who are still reading, thanks for hanging in there! This room has been a busy project but one built with love & I cannot wait to bring our new little girl home so she can enjoy it herself.
