Sophie Claire Dodson
The newest addition to our family made her arrival on Tuesday evening, December 17 at 7:40 pm. She weighed 7 lbs. 2 oz. & was 20 1/2 inches long.
The whole day seemed very surreal - probably because we went through the same experience two years ago. I was induced with both of my girls at the same hospital in December, right before Christmas. Bryan & I even wore the exact same outfit when we checked in! He had on his Longhorn scrubs, just like last time.
I was hoping for a quicker delivery this time around, but instead it lasted about the same length of time - around 11 hours. Long story, but Sophie ended up turning sunny side up & had problems coming down the birth canal. My contractions were regular but she was stuck. Needless to say they had to turn me & make me lay on my side in all sorts of funny looking ways & eventually she turned on her own & I dilated 4 cm's & she slipped right out all on her own - in less than 1 hour. It happened so fast that I literally didn't even have one full push & Bryan almost didn't document the experience because he barely had time to get the camera! Luckily Sophie & I had an easy delivery & we recovered quickly. Of course we got lots of pictures of her big day so I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

And this is the wonderful Dr. Boyd - she delivered both of our girls & we absolutely love her!
Bryan & I spent most of the day by ourselves but we did have a cheering section waiting for us out in the lobby & they wasted no time coming to meet their new grand baby/great-grand baby!
But I'm sure you can guess who was the most excited:
Big Sister Sadie Kate! She was a little confused at first but as you can tell she quickly warmed up to her little sister & couldn't stop kissing her & pointing out her body parts :)
Unfortunately our first family picture didn't turn out the greatest. She was a little scared of me in the hospital bed. I don't think she understood why I was hooked up to so many machines & wires & why I couldn't hold her. Poor girl!
We have already made it home safely & are quickly enjoying life with the newest addition to our family. Stay tuned & continue reading the diary of our life as we make many more memories with Sophie Claire!
Yay!!!! Congratulations! I've been checking your blog daily waiting for an update. I'm glad things worked out for you. Enjoy your sweet new bundle of joy!
