Christmas Morning 2013

Christmas morning was much quieter around the house. After we left Nanny's house on Christmas Eve, we all went to bed really late & fortunately, Sophie let us all sleep in - until 10:30 to be exact! Bryan & I started panicking when we woke up because it was so quiet when we woke up but we didn't have any company that night & both of the girls were still sleeping. Granted, we stayed up until 2:00 the night before & we had to get up a few times with Sophie, but still at least she let us catch up on some zzzz's while sleeping in :)
We did have a surprise visitor that night & Sadie was beyond thrilled when she woke up on Christmas morning:

Santa left Sadie & Sophie a pink 3 piece kitchen that matches their new washer & dryer! And he even found all of the presents she had already been given from family (shopping cart, appliances, pots, pans, apron, food, etc.) and he stocked their kitchen. Sadie noticed everything as soon as she peaked over the staircase, but surprisingly, she acted shy & made her Dad carry her down the stairs. She kept asking "What is that?" while she pointed to everything. Needless to say she started playing right away & was so excited about her Santa gifts that she didn't want to open her stocking or her other gifts that were under the tree:

Eventually, we convinced her to try everything else. There wasn't much - basically the girls had a present for each other & Sadie had 1 or 2 other small gifts from us:

And finally she opened their stockings. She started with her stocking:

And then she got to open Sophie's stocking. It was so cute because she would take everything out of Sophie's stocking & take it over to the nap nanny & try to give it to Sophie:

Poor Sophie - she slept through all of our Christmas festivities again! Not even hugs & kisses from her big sister could wake her up.

We even found 1 surprise under the tree for Mom & Dad:

I am assuming that Sadie made this in school & when she came home with it one of the grandparents wrapped it & put it under the tree. I am also assuming that this happened while we were in the hospital & that's why we didn't know about it, but it was such a fun surprise!

Even though we had a quiet, low-key Christmas morning with just the 4 of us, it was a perfect holiday memory that I will always cherish - our first Christmas as a family of 4. I look forward to many more Christmas mornings with our family, even though they will probably start earlier than 10:30 in the years ahead!
