Sadie's Other Little Secret

What I didn't mention in my last post is that what already know the sex of our next child as well. I went to a high risk specialist for my first trimester screening at 12 1/2 weeks & we were fortunate to see some really good pictures of Baby Dodson #2. Unfortunately, they can only say with 90% certainty what the sex is, but we did this with Sadie & they were accurate. Plus, this doctor has been right 100% of the time :) I won't be buying any major purchases for the new baby just yet until we are closer to 18-20 weeks & my regular doctor confirms our suspicions, but I have been more excited about choosing names & planning a nursery.

 

We told most of our family over the phone (because they all live out of town) but we happened to see Bryan's parents a few days after we found out so we tried to tell them in a more creative way. While we were in Fort Worth a couple of weekends ago, they met us for dinner at Joe T. Garcia's & I surprised them with dessert. I had ordered cupcakes & told them that if they saw blue frosting, then we were having a boy & if they saw pink frosting, we were having a girl.

 

It's kind of hard to see in the picture, but if you look closely.....

 

 

you will notice that they have pink icing! That's right - we are having another girl! We have been talking about it very openly with Sadie since she will have a Little Sister. Although she doesn't get it yet, I think she will be very excited to have someone to grow up & play with. Bryan & I both secretly were hoping for another girl - it should be easy now that we already have one, right? And we couldn't have planned it any better. Since they will be 2 years apart & born in the same month, I am hoping that their clothes will fit each other - same season & everything. Plus, now I can go all out & buy girl everything since I know it will be used more than once. I am thinking Pottery Barn kitchen, doll house, etc. It's a good thing Bryan doesn't mind, because now he will be surrounded by women - 1 wife, 2 children & 1 dog - all princesses!
