Sting Ray City, Star Fish Point, Diving & Snorkeling

While we were on vacation, we booked one excursion while we were there & it just so happens to be the same excursion we have done every single time we have been there. I know, it sounds boring, right, but maybe it's so good, we have to repeat it?! We boarded a boat directly at our hotel & enjoyed the ride out:

Literally, I would be happy just cruising around all day! Our first stop, Stingray City! I mean how can you go to Grand Cayman & not stop there. That's literally one of the things they are known for:

Bryan & Sadie jumped in first, while I took pictures from the boat. Sophie was hesitant so it took her a while to warm up to the idea but eventually all 4 of us made it out there. Hugs, kisses & pictures for everyone:

Our next stop was snorkeling at a coral reef at Rum Point. Again, we have done this before, but I have to point out that Sadie has been snorkeling for years, but Sophie has never tried it:

She would put on a life jacket & jump in the water to swim, but she had never snorkeled. Until now! Sadie & I snorkeled together for a while & saw a really big eel. Then I got out because I wanted to watch Sophie & take pictures of her. She snorkeled with Bryan & loved it! We were so proud of her:

Our final stop was Starfish Point. There weren't as many starfish here as there were last time, but it was still worth the trip for the stingrays & the snorkeling:

In case you didn't know, you cannot take the starfish out of the water, that's why we are holding them down. Also, the water is clear here, but it's just like I remembered, very green, right? Not nearly as turquoise blue as the rest of the island.

Finally, we made our way back home & I think we all enjoyed the ride:

Our bonus excursion happened organically on this trip. Sadie loves the ocean & snorkeling so much, she asked if she could go scuba diving! Bryan actually got certified after college when he was backpacking Australia & he been waiting for someone to dive with him! Sophie had absolutely no interest, so we stayed back at the resort & spent the day together while the 2 of them went. They started with a training class in the morning:

She learned how to do everything & then had to pass a few tests before they would take her out. Thank goodness she did great & was ready to go so they did a shallow (40-50 ft) dive out in the ocean:

She did great & is ready to go again! Apparently they saw a lobster, some stingrays along with the typical coral reef, fish, etc.

She is hooked! We already have a trip booked for July so our goal is to get her certified at home so they can go again this summer. The certification takes a while so we are hoping to do most of it here & then hopefully, she can do her certification dive when we get there:

I am so proud of both of the girls & their new adventures! I think Bryan is happy to have a diving companion now also. If only he could find someone to golf with him!
