Life Lately with Sadie

I just posted about Sophie busy with Girl Scouts, but what has Sadie been up to this month? It has been unseasonably warm most of the month, so she has gotten more independent & has been riding her bike around the neighborhood & meeting up with friends:

One of her friends transferred to private school so they had their last lunch together at school with their assistant principal:

We had a parent meeting at our middle school for rising 6th graders last week & she had band & orchestra try outs. They have to choose one fine art elective for 6th grade & their choices are art, band, choir, orchestra & theater. She was leaning towards band or orchestra, so she chose to try them both & it was a fun day! She literally tried every single instrument they offered but I took pictures of her trying the trombone (because that's what Bryan played!) and percussion (because that's what I played!):

It was really interesting listening to them evaluate her - it really is dependent on natural ability, your height, the length of your arms or fingers, or even if you have the right type of face or lips. Ha! Apparently, she had perfect flute lips, but the flute didn't fit her personality. In the brass family she was best at the french horn, but her overall pick was the oboe:

Who knew?! Apparently, they usually only have 2 oboes in the band, but the teacher said she was absolutely perfect for it & pretty much talked her into it. Afterwards, she went to orchestra & she liked the viola:

I would guess she will probably choose band, but we haven't turned in her selection yet.

She also had a soccer tournament this past weekend. They are still playing their traditional age group, 9v9 in league play, but for the tournament, they played 11v11 on a bigger field with the older age group. It was a tough weekend but they played awesome & made it all the way to the championship game Sunday night. It was freezing out there, which didn't bother them, but it was cold for the fans on the sidelines:

They ended up losing the championship game 2-1, but they played an older, really aggressive team from Lubbock. Poor Sadie looked so small compared to some of their girls! No matter what, I'm just proud of how amazing they play against older girls like that & still make it all the way to the final game:

Between 5 soccer games, 1 basketball game band & orchestra try outs, she had a busy weekend & was ready to chill by the fire Sunday evening:
