Sophie's 8th Birthday

After a week of celebrating, we had 1 more celebration to go - Sophie turned 8! She woke up to surprises also:

We may be a gluten free household, but we make exceptions on special days, so this girl got a real donut, full of gluten!

It was so big she could only eat half. Either she wasn't hungry, too excited or just wanted to go straight to gifts:

Her birthday was last Friday, which happened to be our last day of school, so she had a busy day. They celebrated her at GMP that morning & then they had their class parties that afternoon. After school, both of the girls had basketball practice & then we took her out to eat to one of her favorite restaurants we never go to anymore - Salsa! It is not a gluten friendly restaurant for Sadie & I but we try to let her indulge when she can:

She didn't really like the sopapilla, but she ate a lot of chips & bean dip!

The next night, Sadie was at a slumber party so took Sophie to the Christmas Tree Lighting at The Star & we let her invite her bestie:

It was cold out there, but it was fun to bundle up & celebrate the season! We were fortunate to have VIP access, so the girls got to be on the front row. It is a 20 minute show put on by the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, Rowdy & even Santa Clause. The girls had SO much fun & Sophie brought her camera & documented everything:

We have done this show before but it never disappoints. In my opinion, it really is the best tree lighting in the area! We had a great night & even though we loved having Kate join us, I wish Sadie could have been there also:

We had an early dinner that evening so we thought we would surprise the girls with dessert. Earlier this fall we took Sadie to The Yard, Milkshake Bar, but Sophie had never been so we thought we would surprise them:

They both chose the unicorn milkshake! They even have a gluten free option, the Cereal Killer that I indulged in:

I am pretty sure it was a fun surprise for both of them!

Afterwards, we took them to look at Christmas lights:

We really did have a fun night with them both & I felt like it was a fun way to end her birthday celebration!
