VBS 2021: Destination Dig

Last summer our church had to cancel VBS but this year we were back & better than ever! We had to reduce the capacity & have a few restrictions in place due to Covid, but thankfully as we got closer to time, we were able to relax on several things. Last time I helped with Sophie's age group, so this year I jumped to Sadie's age. Somehow I got roped into directing all of 3rd grade so we started planning months ago:

We finally had it last week & we had so much fun!

I don't know if it's because we didn't get to do it last year or we are just so excited to get back to normal, but it really was the best week! The girls had a lot of friends & neighbors from church & school there so it was fun seeing all of them as well:

On Thursday, they had crazy hair day so somehow the girls convinced me to dye their hair. They really wanted to last year during Covid because everyone was doing it, but we never did so I gave in. They were really excited to dye it using kool-aid so they were so excited when I took them to the store & let them choose their color/flavor. Sadie really wanted pink so she chose strawberry & Sophie wanted purple so she chose grape:

There are all kinds of tutorials online but we just did what our friends recommended. Sadie's hair soaked it up so good it turned red:

Sophie's on the other hand didn't show up as vibrant:

We just did their tips in case it doesn't go away & they want to cut it, but I'm hoping after they swim for a few weeks it will fade. They were so proud when they went to church the next day to show everyone! And of course everyone else had crazy hair too so I took a lot of pictures with their friends. Starting with 1st grade:

Next up, the 3rd grade crew:

Finally, this last picture does not do it justice, but we took our neighbors home every day & these 4 listened to the same cd singing & dancing to all of the VBS songs every single day. This is the pic I tried to take one handed while I was driving:

I am so thankful for our church & the outreach they do for our children & our community. We are so blessed to be a part of it!
