Both of the girls played basketball again this winter & Bryan coached both teams:
The season started in December but was off to a slow start due to team quarantines & the winter holiday break. Unfortunately, I didn't take many action shots of Sophie this season. We have a team mom who is a photographer & she always takes awesome pictures so I am hoping to get some from her. I did catch Sophie & most of her team after their first win:
They had their last game on Valentine weekend. Since we couldn't have a team party due to Covid, I made goodie bags for their last game & went with a combo basketball/Valentine theme:
It was a fun season & I sure hope these girls play again this summer. Last summer we couldn't due to Covid so I am really hoping this summer is different. She has a blast playing with these girls:
Sadie's team has lost players through the years so we tried to recruit a few from her soccer team. I think this made it that much more fun for her because these girls are already used to playing with each other & have good chemistry:
These are the only 3 original members of the Shooting Stars:
and bonus - Sadie's bestie from kinder & 1st grade came to visit from Ohio:
Look how tall she is - Bryan wished we could have put her in a jersey this day! It's always fun at Fieldhouse & we see friends all the time:
I did try to take a couple of action shots of Sadie although most of them don't turn out since she moves so fast:
Their team actually got to play 1 extra weekend. At their age, they get to play in a tournament their final weekend. Their last game was a tough lost - they were tied 8-8 & ended up losing by 2 in overtime. Half of the team was in tears after the game. Sweet girls!
Sadie isn't in love with basketball as much as Bryan & I so I am not sure about the fate of this team. We would love for her to play again but for spring we will take a break & re-evaluate this summer:
