On Sunday morning, we spent the time together as a family but then that afternoon, Bryan headed out for golf so the girls & I spent the afternoon together in the water. I played with them in the kids pool:
Then we headed to the beach & we explored. We found a secret cove & a few caves:
We discovered shaved ice at our resort & this might have been the first of many that these two had last week:
Then they dumped me for their friends. Ha! These 2 are so social they had new friends all week:
Honestly, I didn't mind because that just meant I had more time to read. When Bryan got home, we cleaned up & headed to dinner. This night was beautiful & we walked the boardwalk to an amazing fish restaurant down on the water:
On Monday morning, we had a surprise for the girls - our first excursion:
We have never zip lined before but have always wanted to! This year, both of the girls were finally old enough & tall enough. We went to the tropical plantation & ziplined on the side of the mountain with spectacular views:
We were in a group with 1 other couple & 4 older women who were traveling together. They were so much fun to zip with! We took a quick training class & then we got our gear:
In case you are wondering, we even had to wear our masks the entire time we zipped! We only took them off for our family picture. We climbed right up our first tower & none of us were afraid of the zip line or the height, but it was super windy up there & the tower was swaying back & forth so it took us a minute to get used to that. They asked who wanted to go first & it was Sadie all the way! They actually had 2 lines so I went with her:
It was SO much fun! So we stood on the other tower by ourselves while it swayed & we waited for everyone else to zip on over. Sophie & Bryan were next:
We zipped on 5 different lines & every single one was a blast! We took turns going with different people & by the end, we were dancing, letting go, turning around & all sorts of crazy stuff while we zipped. We got some awesome videos! Check out our view:
I mean seriously, I am so glad we tried something new:
When we finished, we had hoped to go hiking afterwards but it got pretty cloudy & looked like it would rain so we drove to Lahaina instead. We found an awesome restaurant on the water where we had lunch & it had my favorite dessert of the week:
Lahaina is the cutest town with the best shopping, all waterfront. We spent the afternoon shopping & walking around town, which ended up being perfect because it drizzled all afternoon. Not enough to ruin the day but just enough to be glad we were out shopping & not wasting a pool day. We stopped in the park in the middle of town & the girls loved exploring the banyan tree:
But we could not leave Lahaina without visiting:
I read about it before we even got to Maui & I knew we had to try it! We even stood outside in the rain:
Cheers!
I really wanted to compare it to the shaved ice we had at Matsumoto's in Oahu last year & secretly, I like Matsumoto's better. We had planned a luau in Lahaina also on another night, but honestly it was a 45 minute drive back to our hotel so we decided to cancel it. It was a fun day though & I am glad we took the time to leave the hotel for a while & explore the island.
