In case you haven't heard, there was a winter storm in Texas! The biggest one I have ever lived through, that's for sure! As I mentioned in my Valentine's post, we woke up on Sunday morning to find snow:
The girls were so excited! It was definitely more than a dusting, which is all they have really seen at home. The girls went outside & played in the backyard & had fun jumping on the trampoline:
They even built a snowman on the trampoline & used their Valentine gummies to decorate it:
The snow picked up as the day went on & we stayed inside where it was warm, which ended up being the best decision we made all week. We hung out in the media room, watched movies & thank goodness we did because sometime during the night we lost power. And when we woke up, there was a lot more snow:
Isn't it beautiful?! I went out there & measured the snow fall in our front yard & recorded 5"
I don't remember exactly when we lost power, but this was the coldest it had ever gotten at our house & since power went out, the waterfalls in the pool weren't always working, which meant the pipes weren't running which meant the pool started freezing:
Thankfully we were having rolling power outages so every time our power would turn on, the waterfalls would kick on. Thank goodness we were able to keep 3 of the 4 bubblers going & the main waterfall from the grotto but our spa & spa waterfall were completely frozen over:
Bryan & Sadie went out there with a shovel & tried their best to break up the ice:
After lunch we headed up to our school where they have a big hill & met friends. It was definitely social hour at the hill! Both of the girls saw a ton of friends & we had fun visiting with everyone also:
The girls had so much fun playing in the snow, making snow balls, making snow angels & sledding!
We only had carboard boxes but thankfully when we got there, a lot of friends had real sleds:
When we finally dragged the girls home, Kate came home with us & they played in the backyard:
While we were back there, Bryan went back to breaking up the ice in the pool:
We had so much fun outside & it was a beautiful sunny day, but unfortunately the rolling outages continued so we did not have power inside the house. Thank goodness we had our fireplace going because that was the only thing we had to keep us warm!
We don't have a kitchen or a living room right now, but we still had 1 rug left so we pulled that rug in front of the fireplace & spent the entire week there. Let's just say we played a lot of games on that rug!
