Countdown to Halloween

Is Halloween really 1 week away? Fall is really flying by & I just cannot believe it! The girls & I have had fun baking & we've tried a few new recipes & treats we found at Trader Joe's:

My sister & her kids came to visit this past weekend & we surprised the kids by taking them on a trip Saturday night:

None of them have done a Haunted House before but most of them are closed this year due to Covid so they advertised their drive thru Halloween experience instead. We thought it would be fun for something new. It definitely wasn't scary, but you turned off your headlights & we drove through a parking garage in downtown Dallas that was decorated, played spooky music & had characters in costumes walking around:

Not sure if I would recommend it or go again, but it was fun to get us in the Halloween spirit. The next day, our church had Trunk or Treat:

They usually have a big festival with zip lines, rock climbing, face painting, etc. but this year they did something simple where everyone could spread out. They just had cars decorated & the kids got to walk around, play games & get candy. We had just came from Sadie's soccer game so she did not dress up, but Sophie had fun picking a costume from home:

This seem to be the theme this year, shooting candy through a PVC pipe instead of having direct contact with someone:

We saw a few friends along the way:

and came home with way too much candy! But it was a fun evening & I'm glad we have a few things to help us still feel normal these days.
