Sophie's Dance Recital 2020

Catchy title but unfortunately, Sophie did not participate at a dance recital this year. She started dance after Christmas & I had planned on her taking a full semester before their recital in June. She was taking 2 classes this year - Jazz & Tap, so she would have had 2 costumes & 2 dances. However, she only took 2 months of classes before covid shut us down. At first they offered us videos, then they started zoom classes, but Sophie had absolutely no interest so by April 1, we had already dropped the class. At that point, they were uncertain about if they could have a recital & she hadn't even learned a routine yet. Thank goodness we had not bought tickets to the recital or paid for a recital fee, but we did buy a costume:

Isn't it adorable?! They basically had a leotard with 2 different skirts so I am sure they would have looked different. The outfit was too cute not to take pictures of so we picked a morning to meet a few of her friends at the dance studio so we could take pictures:

Flapper skirt - check. Next up, a tutu:

Love all of their sweet poses! We had fun getting all dolled up with sponge curlers & make up but someone else might have been a little jealous so we let her in on the action also:

That picture pretty much sums it up - my little girlie girl & my tomboy!

Finally, we had 1 final picture I wanted:

We couldn't do a photo shoot without a mask! I will always look back at that picture & remember the summer of the Coronavirus.
