Life Lately - Summer Edition

Summer has flown by. Seriously - after virtual learning & staying close to home most of the summer, I cannot believe it is almost August! I haven't gotten on the computer much this summer but I still take pictures here & there so here is my most recent photo dump of our summer happenings.

The girls got to go bowling with their grandparents & their cousins and I hear that they had fun but it looks more like they played hair salon while they were there:

When we dropped Sadie off at camp, we stopped at the Dairy Palace in Canton on the way home. I have always wanted to stop there & it was worth it! Not exactly the healthiest meal, but it tasted delicious! And Sophie loved having us all to herself :)

While the girls were at camp, I finally snuck back to the gym. I was dying to go back to 1 group exercise class & it was totally worth it:

Since then, I have been going once a week in the morning while the girls are asleep. I know there is a stigma about going to the gym, but we are members at our local YMCA & they have been awesome. Everyone has masks on & it is super clean. You have to register for class & the class size is pretty small. I just sneak in & sneak out & try not to talk to many or touch anything on the way in or out!

I also got bored & decided to re-organize my gift wrap supplies. Has anyone else done that recently?!

I loved the first one I set up so much that I created a second one for Christmas:

Let's just say The Container Store was having a sale & I went a little crazy!

While they were both at camp, Bryan & I snuck out for a lunch date:

Unfortunately, that was the only official date we have had since we were on vacation over spring break. It has been way too long!

Sadie is still practicing soccer, twice a week. She had a few games re-scheduled from the spring season but they either got rained out or the other team forfeited:

I already posted a blog about her playing softball but here are a few more pictures. Her teacher & one of the other 2nd grade teachers came to watch them in action:

Our neighbor got a slip-n-slide for her birthday so the girls had a blast trying it out with all of our neighbors:

We have been baking a lot. We pretty much invite another family over at least once a week to swim & cookout so that also means we get to try a new dessert every single week:

Sadie has officially started putting things in & out of the oven, which is a big deal. She was scared when she was younger & I was nervous to let her do it:

Since we can't really go to the donut store on the weekend anymore, I experimented & made gluten free donuts for the first time & they turned out great! Sadie slept in that morning so Sophie had fun decorating them with the glaze & sprinkles:

In the past, we usually ordered pizza & never really made home made pizza at home, but since we are stuck at home these days & not eating out as much, we thought we would give it a try:

The girls thought it was so much fun & it was definitely cheaper since gluten free pizza costs more:

This past weekend we celebrated Bryan's birthday. We just got together with the grandparents & enjoyed a nice meal but of course, the girls made him a dessert:

and we surprised him with cornhole:

He has wanted a set for a while & we had a friend make it for him. Actually, the friend is an older brother of one of Sadie's soccer team mates. He put together a business plan & started his own business this summer. And he is only in middle school! I was so proud to support him - from 1 entrepreneur to another!

Finally, we saw this sign one day while we were out & I thought it was perfect for this day in age & wanted to share:
