Last Day of E-Learning

Hello summer, goodbye home schooling! The girls officially had their last day last Thursday, but we hunkered down & finished their work on Wednesday. After we turned in their final assignments, we went to the school for a material exchange. We had guided reading & library books to turn in & their teachers cleaned out their classrooms & returned all of their stuff:

They had fun going through all of their stuff again!

They usually have a celebration of learning assembly where they receive their awards for the year but this year the teachers recorded them & sent videos. The girls really enjoyed watching it & seeing who all got what awards, including theirs!

We were not surprised when Sophie got voted Fabulous Friend:

She also got a reading & social studies award! We were so proud of her! I know her kindergarten year didn't end quite the way we thought it would, but she had a great attitude & never let it get her down. She is just ready to move on to 1st grade!

Sadie had her ceremony also & we were even less surprised when she won:

That girl cannot wait to teach! And everyone knows it! She also won music, reading, writing & social studies. She is excited for 3rd grade because instead of 1 teacher, you get to have 2!

Even though we didn't officially have work to do on Thursday, I made the girls take pictures to celebrate:

The parks in Frisco just opened a few days before school got out so we met the girls in her class for a picnic lunch:

She was so excited to see them!!!

Later that afternoon, when school officially got out (you know, around 3:00!) we invited a bunch of 2nd graders to go get snow cones:

Word spread & there were at least 75 kids & moms from Pink there! Of course there were a lot of siblings there also so Sophie was just as excited:

Thank goodness we chose the Snow Cone Lady in downtown. She has been there forever & has a bunch of empty land where there is plenty of room to park, run around, eat, visit & play! I figured it would be the safe choice for kids to spread out & try their best to be "socially distant"! We even had a few teachers stop by when they heard, including Sadie's teacher & her dog Luke!

Luke might have been the hit of the afternoon:

He even had his own snow cone:

Ms. Hartman brought her camera along also so she took some good pictures also:

Well, we tried to be socially distant as much as possible until we asked for a group picture! And honestly, this was at the end after we had already been there for a few hours so this is only a fraction of our crowd. Until next year, cheers to summer!
