Aulani, Day 1 & 2

After our stay in Honolulu & our time at Pearl Harbor, we drove to the other side of the island for the rest of our trip. I was a little worried because it was kind of cool & it rained off & on while we had been there but thankfully the other side of the island was so much warmer & we hardly got any rain. The girls didn't have a clue where we were until we got out - we were welcomed with leis again & some fresh juice:

As soon as the girls saw this they knew! Have you figured it out yet?! Here is another clue from our bedroom:

In case you didn't know, there is a Disney resort in Hawaii! It has been on my list for a while but Bryan really wasn't excited about it but since it was my birthday, I got to choose :) The resort was beautiful - very Hawaiian & lots of resemblances from the Moana movie but not over the top Disney. We lucked out & got a room on the 12th floor with an ocean view:

Aulani is definitely a Disney resort but instead of having a theme park, it has a water park with several pools, lazy river, water slides, grottos & the beach. Their beach was really nice for Hawaii because it was not rocky & they built a cove so the water was nice & calm.

I always like to walk around & take pictures in the morning while it's not crowded:

They also had a lot of koi ponds with fish & beautiful vegetation:

Our first day there, we hit the beach. They offered free boogie boards & sand toys for the kids. Sadie loved the boogie board:

In case you are wondering where Sophie is, she was at Aunty's Beach House. They also offered a kids club from 9:00 - 9:00 with free childcare & she loved it! They had a craft room, a video game room, a media room, a play/dress up room & an outdoor playground. She spent most of the first day there & was so busy playing she didn't want to join us at the beach or the pool. Which was fine by me because it I was able to relax & do my own thing:

We went to dinner that night & enjoyed a beautiful sunset, the first of many that week:

When we got back to the hotel, we ran into a few friends you might recognize:

Another fun surprise about Disney, right?!

The next morning, we all went to the beach together:

Oh my - those girls are growing up way too fast!

After our morning at the beach, we spent the afternoon at the pool & you will never believe who we ran into in the lazy river:

Silly Goofy! Good thing he had his bathing suit on with his water shoes!

Later that afternoon we saw some more friends you might recognize:

That's the fun thing about Disney - you literally never know who you are going to run into!

We treated the girls to their first Mickey shaved ice that afternoon:

So cute & yummy! I don't know where Sophie ran off to after this but somehow Sadie ran into Moana by the pool & Sophie was so disappointed she missed her:

That night we cleaned up & went to dinner at Ama Ama on Disney's property. We had a fabulous meal & an even more fabulous sunset:

They had live music & when the girls finished eating, Bryan dropped them off at the kids club so we got to enjoy the rest of our meal, mostly dessert, by ourselves. Kind of like a mini date but we didn't have to pay a babysitter! As you can see, I think I made a wise choice on our hotel destination!
