Weekend Wrap Up

Finally spring has sprung & we are having beautiful weekend weather! Our weekend kicked off with a fun surprise - Bryan's brother Tim & his family came to visit from Colorado so Sophie & I got to spend the day with their family:

That is our new cousin/nephew Robert James! He was born months ago but this was the first time we got to meet him. Sophie was so excited to get to hold him! Bryan & Sadie had to stay in Frisco to work & go to school so they came over later that night to eat dinner & visit.

Saturday morning we had a new experience:

You can start playing flag football or cheering for flag football when you are in kindergarten and honestly, we have lots of friends who have cheered, but it was just not something Sadie was interested in. But this girl is!

We already know several girls, most of whom she is going to school with that is going to do it with & she is so excited! The boys have a combine & actually try out for the coaches but luckily the girls just have to get fitted for their cheerleading uniform. But they had a fun surprise when they were finished:

Afterwards we headed to the soccer fields. Both of the girls had games & they both had their own cheering section:

They were so excited to have their cousins Kaitlyn & Braxton there cheering them on:

Next up, dinner. We were all hungry so we headed to the Star since they had never been there:

The kids played for a while & then we grabbed dinner at one of the restaurants:

Later that night, the girls stayed home with a babysitter so Bryan & I could go out. We had 3 election parties that we stopped by. I haven't really mentioned it on here, but after 6 years as a FISD Trustee, Bryan resigned from his position & decided not to run for re-election. Instead we threw our support at Gopal & we were so excited when he won:

Finally, we headed out for the night. They have a big country music festival that runs all day Saturday & Sunday in Frisco every May & even though we didn't have time to go for long, we at least had time to stop by the last performance of the night. As soon as we got there, we ran into Bryan's college roommate:

I haven't seen him in years so that was a fun surprise! Of course we had friends there so we met up with all of them:

At first we headed up to our seats which had a great view:

But some of our friends convinced us to come down & sit with them & they were down on the floor:

We saw Luke Bryan, who I have seen before, but he puts on a great show. The boys mostly sat there but Lena & I danced the entire night. We had so much fun! A little too much fun because we didn't want to leave until after the encore so of course we were heading out of the stadium with everyone else & we couldn't catch a ride so we started walking home. Ha! We only live a few miles from the stadium & we really didn't walk too far until we were able to catch a ride. Unfortunately there were 6 of us & thankfully the driver let us all squeeze in:

Pretty sure that's not legal but at least we only went 2 miles to get home!

Sunday was just as busy between church & another soccer game but we did have 1 more sentimental item that afternoon:

Sadie had her last Girl Scout meeting. Technically it was their last meeting for the school year, but it was also her last meeting period. She has loved being a Daisy the past 2 years, but unfortunately their schedule has not aligned with everything else she has going on. As much as she loves it, she knows she will get to see all of those girls at school & she would rather spend more time doing other things. Her friends Kenzie is leaving also so it was bittersweet for them both.
