Sweet Cleats - Final Game

There was 1 only thing I didn't include in my weekend wrap up blog post yesterday & that's because it  deserved a post of it's own. Sunday afternoon was bittersweet because Sadie had her last Sweet Cleat soccer game. Ever. These girls started playing soccer together when they were 3 years old. They have literally played 8 seasons together with FSA (Frisco Soccer Association, which is our recreational league). And they have had the same coach the entire time. I couldn't help but take a look back to where it all started:

Look at how tiny they were! 5 of these girls started together & have stayed all 8 seasons. And along the way, some of these girls have become her close friends and their moms are my close friends! We have gone to pre-school together, we have done play dates together & we have even vacationed with each other! Most of them go to different elementary schools but soccer has always kept them together.

Fast forward to now. 4 of the girls on our team now play academy soccer, which means they are playing at a more competitive level. They play on a bigger field, 7 v 7 instead of 4 v 4, with a goalie & they practice twice a week. Unfortunately, not everyone was ready to make the jump so a few are leaving soccer behind or joining another team. I am thankful that the few that are still playing have decided to stick together. So that's why Sunday was our last game because our recreational league is over:

These girls are awesome - and so is their coach! They went undefeated all season, which is 8 games. And I'm pretty sure they didn't lose a single game last season either. In fact, in 8 seasons, there weren't a whole lot of games lost & these girls have been in the top division. They are not only friends, but good little soccer players. And look at the fab five who started it all:

All of those girls but 1 will continue to play, including her BFF:

We tried to recreate the moment 4 years later!

I am so proud of all of the girls, but especially Sadie. Bryan & I have never played soccer so this was a learning experience for us both, but that little girl loves the game & we are slowly learning to love the sport as well. Farewell to the Sweet Cleats & hello to the Dallas Texans!
