Just like last year, our church's GA program held a pinewood derby race. Sadie was even more excited this year because she remembered it from last year. I tried to let her do some research & search for car ideas, then we took her to Michael's & hit up the craft aisle. She went with a specific vision in mind, but of course that all changed when she got to the store & saw everything. Basically, her car ended up being glittery purple & she added crystal embellishments for decoration. Can you spot it?
That's it in the bottom, right hand corner. Her grade had 10 cars this years to compete against & of course there were multiple races to finish before they determined the winner:
In this particular race, she got 1st, but overall out of all of the 1st graders she got 3rd place. Not bad, huh?! 3 out of 10, I thought that sounded pretty good to me & she was happy with it as well:
Here are the top 3 from 1st grade: Ainsley got 1st, Hannah got 2nd & Sadie got 3rd:
They actually take the top 2 from each grade & then race each other from the other grades (k-5th) & Ainsley got 2nd place overall! She actually won 1st place last year. Not sure what they are doing with their cars over at their house but maybe we'll have to ask next year!
