We had a busy weekend at our house. Sadie turned 7 last weekend & Sophie turned 5 today so we had a big party to celebrate. As with tradition, I planned their party the weekend between their birthdays. Saturdays seem to be impossible with everyone's schedules, so we decided to have it Friday night instead. I treated my friends to a date night while they dropped their kiddos off at our house. 54 kiddos to be exact! It was a crazy, busy night but the girls loved every minute! So here we go - picture overload!
Last spring, our elementary school hosted their annual carnival & I bought a $75 gift certificate for $35. I was pretty excited about it & held on to it all year just for this party:
We already had the house decorated inside & out for Christmas, but thought this was a fun surprise for the girls. Every other year I have their party at home & I usually do a girlie Christmas theme when it's here. This year, my sister found the most awesome paper products that ended up setting the theme perfect for a 5 & 7 year old girl: Santa riding a unicorn:
I didn't do much else besides the food because the house already looked so festive. The banner was actually used at one of our parties a few years ago & the Christmas signs were leftovers also:
Even our elf, Ellie, took a front row swinging seat to watch the action:
We had Christmas games set up inside including memory, tic tac toe, bingo & a snowman:
But my biggest splurge was the cake. I have an awesome cake lady who made the both of the girls' first birthday cakes, Sadie's 5th & now Sophie's 5th. She is really great at designing something after you tell her the theme & she definitely did not disappoint this year:
It got a little crazy when everyone first got here but we were able to calm them down for a group picture:
And then I asked for silly faces & that's when it all went down hill. Ha!
While they were all together, we had everyone sing to the girls & we cut the cake:
After that, we separated the kids by age group. Sophie's friends went out to the garage first to paint. Bryan met a teacher earlier this year who hosts painting parties on the side & we thought it would be fun for something different. She was great with the girls & met us before hand to let them pick what they wanted to paint. Sophie's friends painted a Christmas tree:
And since parents were not invited, I tried to take as many pictures of each of the kids that I could:
To be honest, they didn't paint as long as I had planned, but they lasted about 30 minutes & they did better than I expected:
While they were outside painting, Sadie & her friends were inside eating & playing games:
Then it was time to switch it up & the big kids got to head outside to paint. Sadie requested a painting of Santa:
And of course more photos of all of her friends:
These kids painted for about an hour & their artwork turned out amazing!
And while they were outside, the little ones were inside getting rambunctious. Ha!
What you aren't seeing in these pictures are all of the help I had. I was running around checking on everything & taking pictures while Bryan, my mom, his parents & his grandmother were running the party. Honestly, I couldn't have done it without them. They were monitoring children, serving food, cutting the cake, cleaning & so much more. Thank you for your help!!!
When most of the kids started leaving, we finally got pictures with the girls & all of our family:
And the girls were begging to open presents! They had a few friends left over so they opened theirs first & then they opened family gifts. It literally looked like a toy factory in our living room:
In case you are still reading, I have a few random pictures from our party. I never asked anyone to take off their shoes, but I think 1 kids did & it started a trend. There were shoes everywhere!
This was the first year I didn't plan birthday shirts or outfits for them because I figured they could just wear Christmas outfits. Of course Kenzie was wearing the same shirt as Sophie:
Someone sent me this picture after the party & it cracked me up because it's a bunch of random kids climbing the gate & trying to break free:
And while we were cleaning, Bryan smelled smoke & he found a snowball inside one of our light fixtures & it was burning. That dang snowball could have literally burned our house down:
We took one last picture with the sign outside as our friends left:
It was a fun, crazy night & I do believe these girls are spoiled but I love seeing them in action with their friends. Cheers to another year!
