Christmas Eve 2017

Sunday morning we got ready to go to the Christmas Eve service at church & we had to wake Sophie up at 9:45 to make her go. Then when we got there, she slept the entire service:

Somehow she woke up enough to take a family picture with us:

My parents drove in that morning & met us for lunch but Sophie was so tired at lunch & she didn't really eat breakfast or lunch. That's when I knew something was wrong. Bryan took her to the clinic & she had an ear infection. Poor thing came home, laid down & slept the rest of the day:

I hate that she felt bad on Christmas Eve, but I was hoping if she rested & took her medicine, she would feel better by Christmas morning.

While she was at the doctor, we baked Christmas cookies with Ellie, Sadie & Mimi:

Sadie decorated most of them & she was really into baking this year! She was so excited to make them for Santa that night :) If you look close enough, you will notice that her gingerbread girl has blonde hair, blue eyes with glasses & a pink bow!

Later that afternoon/early evening, we headed to Paul & Nancy's house to have Christmas with the Dodson family. Poor Sophie stayed home with my parents so it was just the 3 of us:

We enjoyed an awesome Mexican dinner followed by even better dessert! We opened presents with the family & then played our annual gift exchange which is always fun!

Bryan & I lucked out & drew the last 2 numbers so we got to choose from all of the gifts! Someone brought these knives last year & all of the women were fighting over them so someone brought them again this year & luckily I had Bryan steal them for me. We brought a selfie stick kind of as a gag gift & it was pretty funny because Nanny opened it & she didn't know what it was! But this was the first year Sadie was old enough to understand the game & she really wanted that selfie stick so she talked me into stealing it from Nanny:

Who knew she knew what a selfie stick was! She made me open it right away & went around taking pictures all night:

We always have so much fun with the Dodson family but missed seeing Darren, Michele, Tim & his family this year:

It was a late night but Sadie was so excited she stayed awake all evening, even in the car on the way home. I think we got home around 11:00 or 11:30 & surprisingly Sophie woke up when we walked in so we let her open her gifts from the evening:

She was too tired & cold to go outside but Sadie went outside to feed the reindeer:

It was so funny because we had been tracking Santa all night & at this point she thought Santa was in Dallas so she was scared to be outside because she was afraid Santa would see her. She kept looking up in the sky for him, quickly poured the food & than ran inside. They put out cookies & milk for Santa:

I am so glad Sophie woke up for some of our activities so she didn't miss anything. After that, both of them went to bed faster than ever before! Then Santa went to work:

It was a late night, but a lot of fun getting to see everyone & celebrate!
