Christmas Morning 2017

The girls slept later than I expected Christmas morning, but of course they didn't go to bed until after midnight & Sophie had been sick. I was up early so at least it gave me time to clean up the house, turn on all of the Christmas lights & have breakfast made before they got up. Sophie actually woke up first & she didn't feel good, so she laid in bed with Bryan until Sadie finally came down. We made them wait to be together before they went to look at their Santa gifts:

They opened their stockings first. Probably because their Santa gifts were so small they hadn't noticed them yet. Plus they get pretty awesome stockings. It is so easy to shop for girls! Eventually they realized they had something in their Santa bags - iPads!

People think I am crazy when I say that we have never had one. Bryan & I love our iPhones but we both have other tablets/laptops that we use for work. And to be honest, I have tried to keep electronics away from the girls as much as possible, but now that they are 4 & 6, I knew it was time. Every single person we know has one, even their grandparents so we figured it was time. They even have them at school! I am sure we will set some strict rules about having them in the house going forward, but I am most looking forward to having them for trips since we travel quite a bit. Christmas day is probably the exception to the rule because they were on them all day long. Literally!

Santa had them all set up with apps, games & all of their movies. Good job Santa!

Eventually we took turns opening the rest of our gifts:

I am so glad my parents decided to make a quick trip to spend Christmas morning with us so they weren't by themselves at home. Sadie was a big helper this year & helped everyone open their gifts:

Did I say help? I mean she basically took over!

Bryan surprised us all this year. He always surprises me & does more than he needs to but I will admit he is a good shopper. This year he decided I needed new black heels & a new watch:

And my mom got me a new dressy purse - sure wish I would have had all of this for the wedding last week! Bryan also had family gifts for each of us - new converse tennis shoes!

Sadie loves hers so much that he thought it would be fun to get all of us a matching pair. Such a great idea! And my family gift for everyone was new basketballs:

I wanted to make sure we all had a ball when we are outside playing together. Or that we had enough for friends when they come over to play.

Obviously we all got more than we needed for Christmas this year, but more importantly, we enjoyed spending the morning together & having brunch. Thanks Mimi & Doc for joining us!
