We had perfect weather for Labor Day weekend & it was the perfect way to kind of wrap up summer. My mom drove up Friday afternoon & the girls had soccer practice that night. I looked up during Sadie's practice and both Sophie & Hayden were in my mom's lap watching Peppa Pig:
When Hayden left she just snuggled up next to Crosby:
The next day Bryan & I made a road trip to Austin for the season opener:
The game was at 11:00 so it was really hot & of course we lost, but we still had a great time! Looks like the Horns are still cursed, even with a new coach. My mom stayed with the girls & took them to a gymnastics party which they loved.
On Sunday, we collected donations for 3 families who lost everything when their houses flooded due to Hurricane Harvey. One of the girls is a family friend who I grew up with. I told friends & our life group at church that my mom was collecting items to take home with her & boy did they help out:
Her car was loaded down! We are so thankful for everyone's generosity. We had so much stuff & we were able to give them gift cards to Target & Walmart.
After my mom left, we drove/walked around our neighborhood & passed out blessing bags from our church to help fill with food donations for Hurricane Harvey:
It has been horrible watching the devastation on the news, but it has really been a good learning & service opportunity for the girls.
We also worked on homework:
This was the first official homework assignment Sadie came home with.
On Monday, we invited the Hill Family over to cookout & swim:
We found a baby lizard stuck to one of our fly traps & we tried to save him but weren't successful:
The girls were so proud of their oreo peanut butter cheesecake that they made. I think I have brainwashed my children & they think we have to take a picture every time we bake something now!
I kept telling the girls this was our last swim of the summer:
It was in the mid 90's outside so a perfect pool day but we had a cool front blow in this week & the high won't be above mid 80's for the next week. But the night time temperature will be close to 60 so I have a feeling the water will be cooling off really quickly. Plus their schedule is getting busier so we really don't have time to swim much. I'm sure we will occasionally get in the hot tub, but the dog days of summer are officially over.
