Life Lately

This week we have slowly started adjusting to our new routine, however, it will change again next week when Sophie goes back to school. On Monday morning, Sadie took extra school supplies for her teacher. She sent out a request asking for paper towels & stickers, so Sadie had fun shopping with me over the weekend & was proud to give it to Mrs. Dunham:

We are still getting lots of pictures & updates from her teacher, which I love! I will promise to stop sharing them eventually, but I had to point out that in these 2 pictures, she is wearing her sweater:

She always tells me it is freezing in her classroom so I let her take a sweater that day since she had a dress on. Looks like she actually wore it! In the first picture they are sorting shapes & in the second picture they are having a writer's workshop.

Sophie & I didn't have any plans on Monday so we went to the mall to run 1 errand & then she got to play:

We spent about 30 minutes in the Disney Store before heading to the play ground. They both love the Disney Store still! On Tuesday she had camp & then Wednesday she went back to dance:

She was the cutest little butterfly in there!

Another picture from school I got excited about was this one:

They have goggles on because they are doing a science experiment. But the biggest surprise was the balls they are sitting on. Sadie had been telling me all week (the first week) that they were having a contest & the table who collected the most popsicle sticks got to win the balls to sit on for a week. I guess this will be an on going contest throughout the year but apparently Sadie's table won the first week! She told me about it as soon as she got home from school. Day 1 they were so cool. By day 2 she was telling me they were hard to sit on :)

I was so excited about carlane, but that didn't even last a week. This is our new normal:

Sadie has been going to school with Bryan every morning & by day 2, she was asking to walk. We only live about 5 blocks away from the school so we can easily walk, but it takes a little longer so instead of walking all the way, he will park on the street that leads up to it & they will walk the rest of the way. So she has decided she wants to do the same in the afternoon. So we park down the street, pick her up & then we all walk to our car together. Maybe when Sophie is older it will be easier to walk all the way home. I will admit, it's kind of fun because most people walk or drive their golf cart so you get to see everyone & visit more. In fact on this day, we ran into all of our neighbors so I let the girls out of my car on the way home & they walked with everyone else. Mrs. Jessica was waiting for all of them with popsicles:

It's fun when everyone is home & we all spend the afternoon outside playing, but the older everyone gets, the busier they get so our play dates only happen one or twice a week instead of every day.

On Thursday, we had a play date with a new friend in Sadie's class, who also has a brother Sophie's age. We walked to school, picked everyone up & then headed to the park:

Sadie & Julia are in the same class but hadn't interacted much so I think the play date helped. And Connor & Sophie will start kinder together in 2 years.

Finally, last night I went to a women's event at church & had a great time but our theme of the night went in a different direction in regards to our current happenings around the state. Our church decided to distribute 25,000 brown paper bags around Frisco to neighbors to fill with food to help support the food banks in Houston:

We helped prep the bags last night & I brought a stack home to pass out to our neighborhood. I thought that would be a good service project for our family to do together this weekend:

Our hearts are heavy for all of those who were effected by this horrible tragedy. I know a lot of you have asked about my parents & luckily they were safe with no damage, but it's heart breaking watching the news. Bryan & I lived in inner city Houston for 5 years when we were first married so we recognized all of the pictures & areas from the news. I hope we can continue to help them as they recover in the months to come.
