Castaway Cay

Since our first stop at Key West was cancelled, the ship headed straight towards Castaway Cay, which is their private island in the Bahamas:

I will admit, that we are kind of beach snobs so I wasn't expecting much, but everyone we talked to before hand, told us that if you book a Disney trip, you needed to go to their private island. Totally worth it! I was pleasantly surprised!

But honestly, after being stuck on the ship for 3 days, we were all excited to get off:

It was a small island but the beaches were white sand & crystal clear blue water. I am sure some of it was man made, but they had these coves around the beaches so it was calm water with not a lot of waves, which we prefer:

Everything on the island was free, including the food & drinks. They had a family beach, an adult only beach & a kids club. Sadie was so excited about the water park:

Out of all of the kids, she was the only one brave enough to try it! She was barely tall enough to do it, but they made her wear a life jacket.

Sophie was obsessed with the kids club. I didn't really get to go in there, but they had a private sand/play area & splash pads for the kids:

We literally had to check on her several times because she was there for almost 4 hours by herself! It made our time more enjoyable because we didn't have to worry about her :) The rest of the kids mostly played at the beach:

while the adults relaxed:

Actually, that was the only thing that wasn't free - alcoholic drinks! This was by far my favorite day because since the water was shallow, we literally sat around & visited all day & had some quiet time to ourselves while the kids did their own thing:

We got there at 10:00 that morning & the boat left at 6:00 that night. Our friends went back to the boat that afternoon because they were tired & wanted to rest, but seriously, our family was some of the last ones out there. I thought they were going to have to drag me back on the boat because I didn't want to leave!

Looking back, I think my phone must have been kind of dirty that day because none of the pictures looked good. Thankfully Julianne bought one of the girls on the beach which shows the true picture:
