Countdown to Relay

For the second year in a row, I volunteered to lead Relay for Life in Frisco. It is the largest community fundraiser for the American Cancer Society & something I am proud to help with. Last year I was kind of thrown into it & didn't really realize what I was doing & didn't have much help. This year I tried to put a committee together & we started working on it last September. It has definitely been a part time job for the past 6 months & more like a full time job for the past couple of weeks! Let's just say I have had a lot of late nights (2:00 this past Sunday) & a lot of early mornings. Yes, I am the weird one that prefers to get up at 4:00 while everything is fresh on my mind & the house is nice & quiet. I have gotten a lot of comments about sending emails at such a crazy hour!

We've spent the past couple of months hanging posters around town, distributing posters to all of the schools & putting as much as we can on social media:

I get excited every time I go somewhere & see one of them hanging around town :) We also made sure we made the local newspapers & magazine this year:

Last year we only made the blurb in the calendar section but this year we actually made the editorial page! I appreciated that since we didn't have a budget for marketing :)

The girls & I have been selling luminaria bags. They had fun decorating them at home one day & several of our mommy friends let their children make some too. We even did a fundraiser at one of our MOPS meetings:

FISD has really partnered with us this year & they have done amazing! One of our elementary schools raised $1,000 for selling Valentine grams. One of our middle schools sold pink out t-shirts in the fall & donated $4,000:

Lone Star High School held a pancake breakfast this past Saturday morning & they raised $800:

And our number one team, Wolverine Nation has already raised over $10,000! They had a Coaches vs. Cancer fundraiser at a basketball game back in January:

and they are selling Wakeland High School Relay for Life t-shirts. So cute I had to buy one!

Some teams have gotten creative & had fundraising parties:

They have the cutest clothes! In fact, I had to splurge & buy something for the girls since proceeds were going to help Relay!

And fundraising continues all summer since we don't close Relay season until August. We even have a Kendra Scott fundraiser coming in June - can't wait for that!

Our personal team has grown this year with family & friends so my mom had to order more team shirts:

Bryan jumped in this year to help secure sponsors:

And my dining room has become Relay Central:

We have a silent auction at the event so people have started dropping off items.

I truly cannot believe that Relay is in 3 days but I am getting excited! I will probably blog about it all week because we have a lot of exciting things happening. If you haven't checked out our event website, please check it out & learn more:

We are still accepting donations & details are given about the event itself if you live in the DFW area & want to come celebrate with us.
