Last night we had bank night for Relay. Basically it is our last meeting with the team captains so they can drop off money, drop off their silent auction items, pick up t-shirts & ask any last minute questions. I am so thankful I have a committee & staff partner at ACS to help run this event - this could not be done without them!
We even had a couple of special visitors last night:
There is a fundraising campaign called Silver Saves Lives & supposedly, if you fill a water bottle with only silver coins, you should be able to make about $100. I thought this would be a good opportunity for the girls to learn about fundraising & money management. We made them a water bottle:
and they carried it around with them everywhere! Mostly we kept it with us in the wagon so when we have been outside playing & taking walks over the past month, we have asked for change. The girls did awesome, especially Sadie. She told everyone the money was going to help sick people :) We learned a few things about this campaign. First, it is a really easy to ask people for money without pressuring them. Most people have change lying around. Second, quarters did not fit in the bottle so they had a separate baggie they were putting their quarters in. Finally, most people didn't pay attention to the silver part because we were given a lot of pennies. But that's ok, every coin adds up!
They raised $36 & I am so proud of them! Bryan, thank you for bringing them up there last night & letting them help me at my "meeting"!
They also got to see Grammy since she is on our committee also:
She is helping with our silent auction.
Bryan took Sophie home but we let Sadie stay later with me. She thought it was so fun helping me out! And I think she enjoyed playing with Riley:
These 2 are going to make cute angels again on Friday night!
Thank you for everyone who has donated so far. We had raised almost $45,000 before last night & I believe we are at $50,000 with the money that got turned in at bank night!
