Rock-n-Roll 2016

For the 3rd year in a row, Bryan went to downtown Dallas to run in the Rock-Roll Half Marathon. To be honest, I don't really feel like he has to train too hard for it, because he is in pretty good shape & runs often. Granted, there was some training involved & he definitely did a few long runs leading up to it. He caught an Uber & drove down early & then I came with the girls a few hours later. We lucked out & found a parking garage by reunion tower that was only 4 blocks from the finish line so we walked over & claimed our spot. Bryan took Sadie to the running expo the day before where she got this poster:

She was excited to write her name & his name at the top & she had no idea what it said but it made me laugh :) Luckily he signed me up for race updates so I had an idea where he was at on the course & I knew what time he was going for so we only waited for about 15 minutes. Here is his cheering section:

Thank goodness he was wearing something bright & I spotted him as soon as he turned the corner & started running down hill:

He said he saw us right away because I was wearing something bright too! Last year he smiled but this year he looked a little more serious. He said hi & waved, but I could tell he was having a harder time. We fought the crowd to the post race spot where we finally found him & celebrated:

Both of the girls were so excited to see him! He grabbed a bunch of drinks & snacks & we let the girls run around on the reunion tower lawn while listening to the live band while Bryan stretched:

In case you can't tell, it was cold. It was in the low 40's but really windy & I think that's what Bryan hated the most was the wind. But he did awesome! His personal goal was 1 hour & 45 minutes & he ran it in 1 hour & 48 minutes, so technically he didn't beat his goal, but he ran it 5 minutes faster than last year. And if we wouldn't have had that strong wind, he probably would have beaten it. Either way, he did amazing & we couldn't have been prouder! As Sadie said, "Daddy - everyone's a winner!". She quickly noticed that everyone got medals :)
