Can I tell you how fun our Christmas break has been?! These girls have been spoiled & it's going to be a rude awakening when we get back on schedule next week! First off, it's been nice not traveling so we've spent a lot of time at home. Second, Bryan is a busy man. Between work & personal commitments, he is gone a lot so having him home for 2 weeks straight has been awesome. The girls are really going to miss spending so much time with him when he gets back to normal next week also. As much fun as we've had being lazy, hanging out together, enjoying our new presents, Sadie finally had a melt down yesterday & starting crying saying that she missed her friends. She is a social butterfly just like her parents so I think she ready for a routine again just so she can see everyone!
So what we have been up to this second week of Christmas break? Me - busy! I woke up early last Saturday & was at Target at 6:55 am. I started shopping at Target the morning after Christmas after I had Sadie & it is one of my favorite things to do. I always get great stuff but it gets picked over fast, so you have to get there early:
Then I picked up my mother-n-law & we headed to The Decorator's Warehouse in Arlington, which claims to be one of the biggest Christmas stores in Texas. I lucked out & met with their main designer & we spent 2 1/2 hours designing new décor for our home. Let's just say I went a little overboard & bought way too much, so much that it barely fit in my car! Didn't get a picture but I cannot wait to see it all next year when I re-decorate!
Speaking of decorating, I spent an entire day taking down Christmas & getting our house back together. It is always a beating & dread it, but it was harder this year because I have really over done it on my leg & it was really hurting by the time I finished. Reminder to myself, never have surgery over a holiday again. Even if it is only a minor surgery :( It's always more fun to put up than to take down, but I feel better afterwards because some would say I am super organized & it takes me a while to pack it just the way I like it. But the next year I always appreciate it:
That's only about half of my Christmas décor. And that doesn't even include the stuff I just bought! Unfortunately, I have one décor closet where I keep everything for the entire year so I have to pull out all of the other holidays so I can store Christmas in the back. So basically, I have to make a mess to clean up my mess:
We had a few more doctor appointments this week. Bryan & I had to go get a wellness screening for his insurance. We went together with the girls so that was a blast trying to keep them entertained:
Actually Sadie did really good & it was Sophie that kept us on our toes. Sadie was very observant & she held our hands when we had our blood drawn.
Sophie had her 2 year check up this week, but I will blog about that later. And I finally got my sutures out today. Hooray! But they said I still can't work out for another 2 weeks. Boo. It's the new year & I am ready to get back on track after the holidays.
We took the girls to the Galleria one day because we had a few errands to run & the girls got a gift card to American Girl. We waited to shop after Christmas because I knew they would be getting stuff from there:
It was so cute - Sadie wanted to get a potty for her dolls :) It actually makes noises when you flush it! Maybe that will help Sophie with her potty training?! They also got beach chairs for the dolls to lay on while they go swimming this summer. Those little divas.
Bryan spent the day with Sadie while I took Sophie to her doctor. They went to Sci-Tech Children's Museum because we had a free pass. As usual, she loved the bubble table:
She also put together the biggest puzzle she has ever done by herself:
I have to thank Bryan because he is so good at taking pictures & sharing them with me. First of all he knows I enjoy seeing what they did, but he also knows I like to post them on the blog :)
Afterwards he took her to lunch at McDonald's:
That girl has eaten more fast food in the past 2 weeks with her dad than she has with me in the past 6 months! Like I said, rude awakening next week when she has to eat her boring lunch at home with me again :)
He took them to spend the morning at Jump Zone while I started taking down the decorations. It is impossible to decorate or undecorate when they are in the house:
Apparently they upgraded lunch & went to Chili's that day!
I returned the favor yesterday & spent the day with the girls so Bryan could spend the day running errands & tying up loose ends before he went back to work. But last night we had a family movie night in the media room:
Sadie asked if we could have popcorn for dinner. Why not?! It's Christmas break! So we had popcorn & strawberries for dinner :) The girls got Brave for Christmas & we hadn't seen it yet, so it was fun watching something that none of us had seen.
I know it seems like we have been busy on our break, but honestly, besides traveling, this is the most time we have all 4 spent together in a long time. Normally we are so busy that we don't get to enjoy hanging out with each other this much. It will definitely be an adjustment when life gets back to normal next week, but then again, I think the girls are ready for a routine. Cheers to enjoying the last few weeks of 2015 with these 3. Can't wait to see what adventures we can find in 2016!
