American Girl Birthday

Last March Bryan & I took the girls to New York & while we were there, I took the girls to American Girl for lunch. I knew right away that I wanted to have their party there:

It is the cutest place for girls & Sophie is obsessed with babies. Plus, both of them got a Bitty Baby for their first Christmas, which was both of their first dolls. I knew it would be a large party & they take reservations pretty far in advance, so I actually called & booked their party back in July. I know, I sound like a crazy mom, but it was worth it!

The girls' party was this past Friday during lunch. We decided to have an all girl party so we invited all of their friends & their moms for lunch, kind of like a big tea party. We even asked all of their friends to bring their own baby dolls. The store was decorated beautifully for Christmas & we tried to snap a few pictures with the tree when we first walked in:

The tree was downstairs on the main floor where the shopping was & we tried to take pictures before we headed upstairs for lunch. Let's just say that Sadie was a little anxious to shop & eat so she didn't want to take pictures right then:

We finally got a half smile out of her, but you can tell her eyes were a little red from crying. We didn't get a smile out of Sophie the entire day - She absolutely loved the party but I think she was a little over stimulated.

Finally we headed upstairs to the Bistro:

Isn't it precious?! They had the tables set up with chairs for the girls & small high chairs for their babies. They also had coloring books for the girls & their drinks were waiting for them. Those pink ties on the napkins are hair ties everyone got to take home with them. They had name plates set up for the girls because I had everyone's meals ordered ahead of time. It was a 3 course meal & they all had a scrumptious starter, a marvelous main course followed by cake & ice cream. They had a separate table set up for the moms but I will confess, there might have been a lot of moms hovering over the girls table :)

Lunch was delicious. They really had a pretty good menu to choose from & the presentation was even better:

Sophie loved the food so much she ate her food & some of Sadie's!

Absolutely love how she is double fisting the chicken tenders, eating while hugging her baby & has macaroni smeared everywhere!

Finally, they surprised the girls with their own personalized cakes:

Technically this was Sophie's first birthday cake since her digestive system couldn't handle food this time last year. She dug right in like it was a smash cake!

They cut the cake & served it with individual flower pots of ice cream for each girl:

Before the girls left, they got the cutest goodie bags:

And we tried to take pictures with all of the girls before they left. We had some friends from church there:

Friends from MOPS:

We had some of our neighbors there:

And of course Sadie had to invite all of the girls from her class:

It may look like it was mostly older girls but there were a few younger ones there as well. Honestly, we don't know as many of the kids in Sophie's class at school yet & most of her friends are boys.

We were also fortunate to have both grandmothers there & both of Bryan's grandmothers as well:

My mom & my sister even drove in town for the party. Natalie was also our personal seamstress & photographer! She made the girls' adorable outfits & matching outfits for their baby dolls. So cute!

Of course the only guy invited just happened to be a favorite in Sadie & Sophie's eyes:

It was such a great day & these girls are absolutely blessed to be surrounded by such loving friends & family. This holiday we are thankful that we got to celebrate them turning 2 & 4!
