For those who have been reading my blog for a while, you probably know if I go silent for a while, then we are traveling. And that would be the case for the past week. Last November we started planning a family vacation with Bryan's family & we finally went! When his parents celebrated 30 years, they took all of us on an Alaskan cruise. This was before either of us had children. Now that they have been married 40 years, they did something for the grandchildren. Any guesses?
We have technically been there once before. Bryan was there for a business trip when Sadie had just turned one so we flew out & spent a few days. Obviously she was little & does not remember, so I kind of feel like this was our first big trip. Need another hint? A few weeks before we departed, we had these delivered to the house:
I have been planning & preparing for this trip for quite some time. I bought the girls a few shirts, ordered a couple of custom shirts & bows on Etsy & I even packed a few princess dresses:
I definitely haven't traveled with those before! We finally flew out on Sunday:
and we met the rest of Bryan's family at the hotel. In case you haven't figured it out yet, we went to Disney World! Bryan's mom booked the trip & we stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge:
We had a great room with an amazing view of the savannah so we could sit on our porch & look at the animals any time. We saw zebras & giraffes on a daily basis!
When we got there that night, Grammy & Grandpa had surprises laid out for all of the kids:
They got each child a new pair of princess pajamas & a Disney gift card so they could shop while they visited the parks. The girls loved their new pj's:
Sophie had Sleeping Beauty & Sadie had an Ariel nightgown. The Minnie Mouse dolls were given to both of them when Sophie was born so I brought them along & they carried them on the plane & slept with them every night.
We had a 5 day pass to all of the parks & it was one of the busiest weeks we have ever had, but the girls did awesome & had a blast! I definitely had a bucket list of things to do & see and we easily scratched everything off that list. Sadie went to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, we ate dinner at Beauty & the Beast's Castle and Cinderella's Castle, the guys golfed, we went to every park, we met every single character & princess there is and the girls rode every single ride they were tall enough for! It was truly magical & you know I took pictures of every single moment so I will probably write each day about our experience at each park. Actually, I will try not to write too much but just post a lot of pictures :)
I will say that I loved going this time of year. The park was decorated for fall & it just made it even more fun for the holidays:
We have had several friends go this time of year in the past & everyone told us that we had to go to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party & we loved it:
It was probably one of my favorite parts of the trip. The girls were a perfect age & everything was magical to them - especially Sadie. Sophie was a little young, but that girl is a trooper. It helps that she wants to do everything her big sister does :) We couldn't have asked for better weather while we were there & we got to spend extra time with Bryan's family. It truly was a magical experience & I cannot wait to re-live the moments as I share our pictures this week.
