Saturday Soccer

Sadie had her first soccer game on Saturday & I have a feeling our weekends will never be the same again. If it's not soccer, it will be volleyball/basketball/softball, something. And either before or after the game, she will probably have a birthday party to attend. Here we go!

The Sweet Cleats showed up ready to play, however, it took us a while to find the field. Do you know how many fields there are when you have 8,000 kids playing soccer on the same day?! Luckily most of her games will be on the same field so at least we figured that out. Her uniform is pretty big on her, but she was rocking her hot pink socks:

My friend Lena found the bows for the girls & picked one up for Sadie. It is a soccer bow, of course! I asked Sadie if I could take a few pictures before the game since it was her first time & we got there really early, so the picture above is her soccer pose & here is her diva pose:

Oh my goodness. Then she wanted a few pictures with her friends Tatum & Kenzie:

The parents showed up prepared also. All of us have younger children so none of us knew what we were doing! Thankfully we thought ahead & brought blankets & chairs to sit on:

It really is fun being on a team with all your friends :) I must confess that we are not the quiet ones - most of them cheered just as loud as I did! Lena even caught a picture of Bryan & I on the sidelines:

I was excited that Sadie's coach chose her & her friend Tatum to be the team captains. I don't think the girls had a clue what that meant, but they stood there while the ref flipped the coin:

Thank goodness they let the coaches stay on the field during the game to help out. They had no idea what position they were or where they were supposed to stand:

But when the ball was let go, they figured out what to do pretty quickly. I was honestly surprised how good they did! Our team was pretty aggressive & Sadie had a blast running around out there. You know it was the first game so I went a little crazy taking action shots so I could document her first soccer game ever:

I don't know if you can tell, but in that last picture, she was kicking a goal! Technically, they don't keep score at this age, but we won 7-2. And the 2 goals their team had, were shot by our girls. They got confused at halftime & we had to switch directions. Sadie actually scored 3 goals & we were so proud of her!! But I must confess that 1 of those goals was for the other team. Ha!

After the game, the girls huddled with their coach & celebrated with a victory chant & snacks:

I can honestly say that I was so proud of all of the girls on her team. They all gave it 100% & kept a smile on their face the entire time. Even though I'm not really into soccer, I can definitely see myself becoming a soccer mom if that's what she chooses. Next time, I'll watch the game a little better instead of taking a bunch of pictures & videos!
