Our New Fall Routine

We officially survived our first week of our new fall routine & I have to admit, it's kind of nice being on a schedule again. Some moms don't like them, but it helps our house run smoothly when we have plans & we know what those plans are.

Our main focus this week was going back to school & we conquered that. Sophie had her first spirit day on Thursday & she got to wear Sadie's old shirt:

When she stood up, it kind of looked like a dress & you couldn't even see her shorts. I was also surprised because for the first time, I got text messages with pictures from Sadie's teacher:

Her assigned seat just happens to be next to her best friend Ellie. Wonder if they did that on purpose?!

I kept our week mostly open because I figured they would be tired & trying to adjust to our new schedule with early mornings. However, we got bored on Wednesday because we woke up to rain so we met our neighbors at the Coop to play:

Even though they live across the street, we really hadn't seen them all summer.

I also found this random photo on my phone & don't really remember when it was from, but it kind of makes me laugh because it looks like Sophie is a princess in training:

Finally, I took the girls to the library today. We haven't been all summer because they don't do any of their children programs in the summer. I have always taken the girls to classes there, but I am ashamed to admit that until today, we have never had a library card. The classes are free & open to anyone, but I always thought Sadie was too young to understand the process of checking out books. Plus, we have a ton of books at home, so she didn't really need any. But I decided today was a good time to finally pick up our family library card so we could start checking out new books each week:

Sadie loves reading. She has a little nightlight in her room & she probably reads to herself for about 30 minutes every night before bed. And she likes to read to Sophie, but she has no interest. I let her choose any book she wanted & she chose Princess Bedtime Stories. We also rented a DVD for her to watch next week & she chose Tinkerbell since we don't have that one at home.

She also likes the computer lab at the library & she played a game of Dora this morning:

I tried to let them play in the play area but Sadie was only interested in the computer & Sophie ran around like a crazy woman knocking books off the shelf. That girl. Finally, it was time for story time & our friends met us there. Today's topic was dance party so they read several books about dancing & then they passed out scarves for the kids to dance with:

It was fun for a change. Like I said, I thoroughly enjoyed our pool this summer but I am kind of ready for the season to change. All of this back to school excitement makes me ready for fall!
