It has been a little quiet around the house this week because Bryan & I are child-less. They went to my parents on Sunday for Camp Mimi & Doc so we have spent the week by ourselves. Unfortunately, it was bad timing for Bryan because he has been pretty busy with work & school board activities since school kicks off soon, but I have enjoyed the time to myself.
I wouldn't exactly say I slept in every morning, but I enjoyed not being in a hurry in the morning. Instead of going to work out at 5:30 or 6:00, I have been going to one of the 9:00 morning classes:
I either run or go to the YMCA regularly, but I never have an opportunity to go to class. This week I tried Turbo Kick & Cardio Blast.
I also used a gift card & treated myself to a pedicure one morning:
I must confess, they are my favorite. Heavenly. Too bad my gift card is now empty, guess I will have to start giving myself pedicures when I do Sadie's.
I also lounged in the back yard by myself. In total quiet. I have spent a lot of time in the pool this summer, but that was the first time I truly took the time to lay out on the float by myself.
And I might have done a bit too much shopping. I got carried away with time since I didn't have any children with me. I literally spent a whole day at the mall & I hit up every specialty store/boutique in town. I love shopping at the end of the season, because they have the best sales. I might have picked up a few things for myself, but I really got some great deals for Sadie:
I basically bought her entire wardrobe for next spring & summer. And I got all of it at 70% - 80% off! I glanced at the new fall items they were putting out & briefly thought about buying a new outfit for the first day of school, but it is so dang hot outside I couldn't wrap my mind around it. I think it's gonna have to cool off before she wears anything for fall.
Bryan had a school board meeting one night, so I met some girlfriends for dinner:
It is restaurant week in Dallas so we tried a new one that just opened a month ago. We had a great time, I ate way too much & we stayed later than I imagined because we enjoyed visiting so much! Thanks for meeting me ladies! Or I should say thanks to all of your husbands for letting you go out while they stayed home with the kids :)
One evening I joined Bryan at a FISD social. Not exactly my idea of the perfect date night while we have no kids, but I do enjoying supporting him & attending events when I can. But we did have one date night for just the two of us:
We went to restaurant week in Dallas. This time we went to a steak & chop house. It is well known in the Dallas area & we have been to their sister restaurant, but it was our first time here & we loved it. I had a salad with grilled peaches that was amazing - probably one of my favorite salads of all time. And I don't even like peaches! We will definitely go back there again.
We always miss the girls while they are gone but I know they have enjoyed time with their cousins & their grandparents & I am sure I will have a lot to write about when they get home next week. But we did enjoy the quiet, lazy mornings & the little bit of free time we got to spend together. Most of all, I enjoyed a little bit of Shaye time - by myself & doing what I enjoy. Not on a schedule & not worrying about being a mom for the moment. Sometimes we need this to recharge & now I will be refreshed & ready for when our girls come home.
