Every summer my sister & I would go visit our grandparents by ourselves & I can't believe that my children are old enough to carry that tradition on. Last year Sadie went for the first time but we kept Sophie at home since she was only 6 months old, but this year, they both got their own invitation in the mail:
I specifically did not tell Sadie about this trip until the invite came in the mail because then she was so excited, she told everyone about it & would not stop talking about it! We drove last Sunday afternoon & met my mom half way to drop them off. Sophie didn't know what was going on, but she is pretty easy & is always happy as long as she is with Sadie :) Natalie's kids were already there so they were even more excited by the time they actually got to Mimi & Doc's house!
From what I hear, they was a lot of eating & playing, but there were some special activities planned. The girls got manis & pedis from Mimi:
Even Sophie got her toe nails painted! That was officially her first pedicure because I haven't been brave enough to try it yet :) But I have to admit that she looked pretty grown up with her pink toe nails!
The girls also had a tea party:
If you can't tell from my blog or my sister's blog, these 3 are pretty girlie & love their baby dolls & tea parties.
For the most part, they stayed at home & played, had a movie night, made birdhouses, etc. but I did hear they broke out one day for lunch at Chick Fil A because it was getting too hot to play outside anymore. They also made a special trip to the bowling alley. Sadie has practiced a few times this summer but I think this may have been Sophie's first time to participate:
Even Max bowled! From what I hear, my daughter might have been a little bit competitive & constantly wanted to know who was winning. Oops, guess she picked up her competitive streak from her parents!
I am so thankful that my parents are so involved in our children's lives. They truly enjoy spending time with them & their cousins & I hope that this tradition continues for summers to come! Thanks Mimi & Doc!
PS: And thanks for sending us pictures & text updates throughout the week. As much as I enjoy my quiet time without them, I absolutely love hearing about them & seeing them while they are gone :)
