It's been a busy week around here but it has been a fun one! We are definitely enjoying summer & soaking up the sun. No surprise that we had a couple of pool parties this week. First we invited my friend Maggie from MOPS. Her oldest son is usually at school so we aren't used to having him around, but luckily the little kids didn't bother him:
Nora & Sophie spent a lot of time by the water table:
Matthew & Sadie spent a lot of time in & on top of the grotto:
I didn't get pictures of them jumping off, but I should have because between these 2 & James, they probably jumped 100 times. I have never seen anyone keep up with Sadie like that! The 3 of them were getting pretty daring & doing some crazy jumps off that thing!
Later in the week, we invited our friends from church over: Tara, Bennett & Ellie. Both of her girls are exactly my girls age so they played great together:
We also went to the splash pad for a MOPS play date & Sadie was elated when her friend Ellie showed up. We had no idea she would be there & this couldn't have made Sadie any happier:
This little stinker still enjoys spending more time running away than actually enjoying the water:
Usually she can be found digging through other mom's diaper bags or picking up crumbs off the ground to eat. Luckily, this is the first time she discovered that the splash pad is in the middle of a random field so she kept running out to the middle of no where :( I cannot tell you how frustrating it is chasing her around all the time. Sadie just liked to play! But then she does something like this that makes me smile:
Oh Sophie. She's really getting into sunglasses these days. Sophie & I ran errands while Sadie was at camp this week & I found her in the back seat saying "cheese" by herself:
You know what else this little stinker was up to this week? Unfortunately, she is tall enough & learned how to open doors:
I was dreading this day :( This is the only way I have been able to keep her contained downstairs. Now she is always going in our master bedroom & the pantry - 2 places she specifically knows she is not supposed to be!
She also learned to take off her diaper. I'm not normally one of those moms that keeps her children naked, but I always take her swim suit & swim diaper off outside & then I put clothes on her when we go upstairs for naptime or bedtime. Looks like I won't be able to do that anymore because if she doesn't have something on over her diaper, it will come off:
It's been nice to be home every night as a family because I'm sure our schedule will pick up again in the fall. Bryan cooked out on the grill the other night & used some of the new grill accessories he got for his birthday:
Sadie & daddy practiced basketball one night:
And I taught Sadie how to plant seeds. I transplanted some lantana in this pot late spring, but we had so much rain that it didn't make it. Honestly, I've just been lazy to replace it so it's been empty & driving Sadie crazy. I randomly found a packet of seeds in our garage for some summer flowers, so I let Sadie plant them:
and she has been watering them every day. I tried to explain to her that it will take 7-10 days before the flowers will grow, but she has spent a lot of time out there watching them & waiting for them to pop up. I hope they finally do or she will be devastated!
Anyway, that's been our week. We are having 2 more families over this weekend to swim & we can't wait!
