We had a pretty low key Father's Day weekend. I surprised Bryan on Saturday night with my present to him - a date night with no kids for just the two of us. I booked a babysitter & we had dinner reservations so it was nice to enjoy a long meal without interruptions :) Then we went & saw a movie, which I think is the first time since we had Sophie. It was so nice to have a normal date night!
On Sunday, the girls surprised Dad with their gift:
We had a picture frame made with the girls footprints. That's Sadie's footprint on the left - she turned it into a UT cheerleader & that's Sophie's footprint on the right, which she turned into a longhorn. In case you can't read it, it says Daddy's Biggest Fans! I tried to have a mini photo shoot with my friend but it didn't go smoothly. I thought I was so clever dressing the girls up in their longhorn cheerleader outfits, fixing their hair with UT bows, bringing the poms & the megaphone, but these girls weren't in the mood. We met our friend at one of the local high schools to take pictures on the football field. Part of the problem was that it was really sunny & hot that day. They were also distracted because there was a soccer camp going on at the field, so they kept watching them & trying to chase down the soccer balls. And poor Sophie was so busy, we could hardly get her to stand or sit still. That's why I hardly pay for good pictures these days! We did get a really cute one of Sadie by herself & a decent one of the two of them together:
I think somehow we were able to surprise him with the pictures & the frame.
We had hoped to spend the afternoon/evening in the backyard swimming but the weather decided not to cooperate. Go figure, that's our luck this year! Instead, we ordered his favorite pizza (at his request) & spent a quiet evening at home with the girls:
We love you Daddy! Thank you for being an amazing father to our sweet girls.
