The girls & I headed out for a quick weekend get away when Sadie got out of school last Thursday. We headed to Conroe for the weekend to visit my parents & my sister came with her kids as well. It was a long trip on Thursday because it stormed the entire time & it took me longer to get there, but we finally made it. Unfortunately, that bad weather was around part of the time, so it was kind of muddy & we didn't get to spend as much time outside as we normally do, but my mom made up for that by taking the girls to Incredible Pizza Kitchen for lunch on Friday. It was perfect because the big kids were still in school so it wasn't crowded at all. In fact, they had the entire play area to themselves:
Sadie's an old pro at rides like this, but it was our first time to let Sophie participate. At first she was skeptical, but then we slowly saw her cute little smile:
Of course we ate a horrible, unhealthy lunch but my girls loved it - pizza & all :) I don't know if I should confess this, but they actually had a macaroni & cheese pizza that I got for Sadie (just sounds like something a kid would like, right?!) but I had to try a bite & it was so good! I know, I do eat like a child as well sometimes...... Thanks Mimi for spoiling our girls!
My nephew Kason is in kindergarten now so Natalie can't take long weekends anymore, so they didn't come until Friday night. Apparently my mom & my sister had a sneaky little plan up their sleeves & they had me a little family birthday party:
My mom cooked Italian (one of my favorites!) & my sister made a cake, which was delicious by the way! And my parents picked up bluebell ice cream, which is another one of my favorites :) They also gave me all of my gifts which were all for our new backyard:
These two know me better than anyone - maybe even better than my husband?! It was a fun evening & even though my birthday was a couple of weeks ago, I never really celebrated this year since Bryan was out of town, so it kind of made up for it.
A few more tidbits from the weekend: my parents just got home from vacation. They were down in Key West & bought the girls some souvenirs, including the pink hat you saw Sadie wearing above. It had a mermaid on it & she loved it! Technically, this is her first baseball cap & I think she likes it because I always wear them. She said she had one just like mom now :) She also really liked my parents' piano & kept playing on it all weekend:
Sophie woke up looking like this on Saturday:
Her eye was so swollen & red that she could barely open it. I called the nurses hotline & we determined it was probably just allergies. It was definitely not pink eye & she was acting normal - no fever, not sleepy, eating like normal, etc. Luckily I had children's Claritin & after a day or two, she looked normal again:
We have never had a problem with Sadie, but Sophie has had allergies since she was born. She constantly has one eye that waters & a runny nose so I have assumed that she got allergies like her father. I actually called her doctor about it last week because her eyes had been so bad they were crusty & swollen when she woke up one morning. She recommended children's Claritin & so far it seems to be working for her. I guess I will have to pack it every time we go to Conroe because something in the air really bothered her there!
