It may have been cold & wet yesterday, but our family still had an eggcellent Easter! I was feeling kind of guilty because it has been a busy month & we have traveled a few times, so I felt like Easter snuck up on me & I didn't do all the fun stuff that I had planned. We never really visited the Easter Bunny. Technically we saw him at the mall one day so Sadie went & gave him a hug while Sophie went ballistic in the stroller. She did not want to have anything to do with him! Guess she lucked out since I didn't make them take fancy pictures with him :) We were out of town & missed most of the hunts around town & we never got around to doing any fun Easter crafts :( I guess the good news is that Sadie did a lot of Easter stuff at school & Sophie is still young, so maybe I will do better next year!
We did start the morning off with an egg hunt inside the house. Sadie got herself dressed as soon as she woke up (Miss Independent) but she obviously didn't fix her hair. I heard her getting ready so I went & woke up Sophie early so she wouldn't miss our morning festivities:
Sadie started finding Easter eggs right away:
That Easter Bunny was pretty sneaky! Sadie was so excited to see what was inside: chocolate, money & hair clips!
I had to hold Sophie most of the time because she figured out how to open the eggs & most of these things went straight to her mouth & she tried to eat them. But she was excited when we finally let her peak into her Easter basket:
The Easter Bunny really surprised these girls! He helped get them ready for summer:
Sadie got a kickboard for the pool so she can practice her swimming, 2 pairs of flip flips (Frozen & princesses) & an umbrella. Sophie got a beach towel, some snacks & a new book. And both of them got dive sticks/toys for the pool:
There might have been some other goodies like goldfish & candy in there too :) Sadie was obsessed with her umbrella & she carried it all day. And wanted to hold it in all of our pictures:
She would have carried it to church if we would have let her! It was good timing though since it rained all morning. Luckily she was distracted when we got to church because they had a petting zoo:
This has become an annual tradition our church does on Easter for the kids & it is a fun one! What kid doesn't want to pet & feed animals?! Plus, they had a special service just for the kids so Bryan
& I got to enjoy Easter service without any distractions & it was heavenly. I was reminded yesterday how blessed we are to have found such an amazing church home! And I love that we can still go to our own church & meet up with family afterwards to celebrate the holiday. We went to Bryan's grandmother's house for Easter lunch & celebrated with his Dad's side of the family. Lunch was delicious & we always enjoy the company. The girls even got to play with their older cousins & go on more egg hunts.
I am so thankful that Jesus has risen & he is the reason we celebrate! Because of him, I am blessed with my beautiful family:
