Central Park

Tuesday was our last day in New York & Bryan had to leave early that morning for work so I decided to spend the day with the girls in Central Park. It was cold the entire time we were there, but Tuesday ended up being the worst day, so it was cloudy, overcast, rainy & really cold. Not a good day for the park, but we made the most of it:

I remember taking Sadie to the Central Park Zoo last time & she enjoyed it:

It's definitely a smaller zoo & not a whole lot to see, but it is fairly cheap & good enough for small kids. Sadie liked seeing the grizzly bears:

and we watched the seals for a while because they were pretty entertaining:

There were no animal trainers there, but they really put on a show! They kept swimming by, splashing everyone & showing off. Sadie was pretty impressed but Sophie could care less. I think she was cold:

Then we walked over to the children's zoo:

It is a lot smaller, but very interactive & geared for small children. They had these really cool tree houses that you could walk in, lilly pads that you could walk across & lots of animals to be fed:

When they got tired of the animals, we walked to the carousel. I hadn't been there before, but I was determined to find it since Sadie loves carousel rides. I was trying to take selfies since I was by myself with the girls & finally one of the attendants came over to take our picture & helped me out:

She even hooked us up & let the ride go longer than usual since there weren't a lot of people there. But I will confess that Sadie threw an epic tantrum as we were leaving - she really wanted to ride it again & was not happy that we only got to ride it once. That's what happens when her dad spoils her at the mall! I was too cheap to pay again (it was the first time they charged me for Sophie) & it was so cold. You can probably tell from the picture that Sophie's cheeks were red from windburn.

Luckily I calmed her down & we headed back to our hotel to warm up. We only had a half day in the city before we had to head to the airport & that might have been the most challenging part of the trip. Bryan was at a meeting in New Jersey so he left his luggage with me & was going to meet us at the airport. It was ok checking out of the hotel because the bell desk helped me call an Uber & load our luggage but you should have seen me at the airport. It was 2:00 in the afternoon, the girls were tired, hungry & were finally starting to break down after a busy couple of days. And I had to push the double stroller, 3 suitcases & 3 carry on bags by myself to get us checked in. Ugh. Much harder traveling by yourself with 2 children. I'm sure I looked like a hot mess, but somehow we survived & the trip was still worth it. I keep telling myself that it will get easier when they are older :)
