Sadie officially played in her first game on Saturday - her first game on any kind. I was a little nervous how a basketball game would go with a bunch of 3 & 4 year olds running around because I didn't know if they would really understand the rules. And they didn't :) But that's ok because it was the cutest little thing I have ever seen! I was seriously laughing out loud because it was so funny!
Sadie was so excited when she woke up Saturday morning & couldn't wait to go to her first game:
She finally got to wear her new "work out" clothes that she got for Christmas. She was so excited to wear shorts, even though it was cold outside :) As soon as we got there, she got to pick her jersey so she went with the number 9. They started with the opening ceremony:
where they said the pledge of allegiance & explained some of the rules. Then her team had a pre-game huddle:
I felt a little better when I realized that both of the coaches stayed out on the court the entire time & helped guide the kids through the game. There are 8 kids on her team & only 5 play at a time, so 3 took turns sitting out. They had a really cool set up for the basketball goals:
It was actually lower than we expected so the kids were actually able to make a shot! I caught a few action shots of Sadie on the court:
Honestly, there wasn't a whole lot of action. She was definitely nervous & kind of shy. Obviously she has never done this before & some of the other kids have. She is also one of the smallest & youngest out there, plus she was one of the only girls. It didn't help that there were a lot of people standing around cheering & yelling at them. She did get out there & play, but she mostly ran around & every now & then she would run to her dad on the sideline:
Can you see her personal cheerleader in the back:
Sophie loved the action!
After the game, her team had a quick post game huddle & shared juice & goldfish. That might have been Sadie's favorite part of the game:
I cannot believe these two are old enough to play an organized sport:
It has been so much fun watching them grow since they first met as infants. I look forward to watching them both as the season continues!
*Disclaimer - I know I took a lot of pictures at her first practice & at her first game, but I'll try not to anymore so I can enjoy the moment. I looked up at one point & it looked like paparazzi because every parent was lined up on the sideline with their phones snapping pictures!
