Last year Bryan started training for the Rock-n-Roll half marathon in Dallas after Sophie was born. Fast forward one year later & he decided to do it again:
We drove to the convention center on Saturday to pick up his packet & we walked around the fitness expo:
On Sunday morning, he left around 7:00 to go down there & as soon as the girls woke up, we headed that way. He signed me up for the text messaging service so I kept getting updates through out the race. We went straight to the finish line to cheer him on:
There were 13,000 runners so it gets kind of busy fighting the crowd & trying to watch him as he finishes. The last update I got was at 10 miles, so I had to patiently wait for the last 3 miles with no updates so I didn't know exactly when he would be coming across. Luckily I caught him just in time:
At this point, Sophie was over her stroller (since we weren't moving - we had been standing there for about 30 minutes) & I was holding her. Sadie had gotten tired & bored of standing, so she was sitting in the stroller. When I saw Bryan, I grabbed Sadie, threw her out in front of me so she could cheer & grabbed my phone to take a picture. He was excited & saw us right away, but I think since he ran by so quick & I grabbed Sadie so quickly, it scared her & she started crying :( She was a hot mess by the time we met up with Bryan:
But she calmed down as soon as he picked her up. There might have been a little jealousy also because she didn't understand why she didn't get to run with him :)
We are so proud of you Bryan! I cannot believe you have the strength & dedication to run 13.1 miles! I like to run, but not that much - 5 miles is my limit :) We will be your cheerleaders any day!
