Texas has been pretty lucky this winter because we've actually had a mild winter. We've even had some unseasonably warm days where we have spent some time outside. I have felt a little guilty playing outside while the East Coast & West Coast got hammered. But we finally had our first winter storm of the season this week. It blew in Sunday night & everything closed Monday & Tuesday, so we have been cooped up for the past couple of days. Bryan works from home so that makes it even harder because I have to keep the kids quiet.
I hate to admit this, but we hardly ever build forts in our house. Maybe because we are always busy & not home or maybe because we have girls. We used to do it when we were little so I was excited to bring out the extra blankets & build my very first fort for the girls! They were not as excited as I was:
For some reason it scared Sophie & she did not like it. She kept trying to crawl out of our fort :( In her defense, I don't know if she was bored, off her routine, teething, or not feeling good because she has basically been cranky the whole time we have been iced in.
Sadie on the other hand didn't understand the concept:
She kept knocking the blankets down or trying to sit on top of the chairs that I had to used to build my fort. Oh-well, at least they have they Minnie Mouse tent. They love hiding in there!
We finally ventured out on the 2nd day. Bryan wanted to get our for lunch, so we just went down the street to eat & run a few errands. We had promised Sadie we would let her play outside, but it wasn't good playing weather. It was literally ice, no snow & by the time we got out, it was kind of melting & mushy. But she had fun putting on her rain boots & stomping around:
Part of our driveway was really frozen when we got home, so she got her first "ice skating" lesson. She thought it was fun to slip & slide around so we told her it was like ice skating since she had never been before:
Guess we will have to take her ice skating for real since she enjoyed it so much!
