I was cooking dinner one night this week when Bryan said "Oh my goodness - look where Sophie is". Not exactly what you want to hear while you are cooking over the stove top, but of course I ran to see because I was afraid of what I would find & this is how I found her:
She had gone up about 4 stairs by herself! Sadie went upstairs to get something from her room & apparently Sophie wanted to follow her. We have baby gates on the top & bottom of both of our staircases, but we have been leaving them open for the last 6 months or so because Sadie is so confident on the stairs by herself now & she knows how to open the gates. I figured there was no reason to take them down because eventually Sophie would figure out how to climb the stairs too:
Here she is waving at Sadie since she was at the top of the stairs watching her. Sophie has been crawling over to the stairs & playing with the gate for about a month now, even pulling up on it, but she hadn't even attempted to climb them. Until now I guess! I guess we will be keeping the gates shut on both ends now unless someone is letting her climb up supervised:
But going up is the easy part - I hate trying to teach them how to go back down.
